Default Tire Recommendations for 20"

Hi Everyone,

Getting some iForged 20x9 + 20x10 in a couple of days and was wondering if anyone can recommend some nice dry/wet tires? I want to get as much sidewall as possible to help cushion the bumps and I want them as wide as possible (Obviously within spec so my VDC, Speedometer, etc...won't trip out). I know by slapping 20" rims you are essentially adding more weight=reduced performance but I just want to know what would be the best balanced size of tires for my 20" specs? Also, I have Hotchkis Sport springs which drops my car only .8 all around and I'll roll my fenders if I have to. Need some help because I know certain tires fit differently than other even though they are the same size (due to design). So if you have/had 20" on your car, I'm all ears.

Thanks!
James

Okay...so far from what I've read on this forum, the following are the best sizes since it will allow enough sidewall to protect the lip, provides a wide stance, and keeps the ratios close to spec in comparison to the OEMs:

20x9 with 255/35/20 (f)
20x10 with 285/30/20 (r)

So what brand tires would you guys recommend and does anyone know where the best deal is right now? I'd be interested in seeing some pics of your setup if you are running the same wheel sizes.

Thanks,
James

285/30R 20 for the rear

245/35R 20 for the front

My car hasn't been lowered yet so I'm not sure of the fitment. I see that you are buying the iForged wheels from TreFifty...beautiful wheels man! I was SUPPOSED to buy the tires from him, we have had a deal set for a couple days now, but he PM'd me today and said that he sold them from underneath me at a higher price...GRRRR!!! Hope your transaction goes ok.
Anyway...I was looking for Toyo T1's and they only go up to a 275/30R 20 so I was just gonna run with them.
Also, keep us updated on fitment, pix, etc cause Im as anxious as you! PM me if I can help ya with anything else regarding this topic.

Yeah, I got them from TreFifty. I've actually eyed these rims for quite some time now. Wasn't planning on buying rims until later this year but I couldn't pass the deal he was offering. According to my tracking numbers, they should be here tomorrow . Yeah, I've read that 245/35R 20 will work but someone has pointed out that this size will cause the lip to be more exposed. As a result, they suggested to go with 255 to help protect the lip and give it more tire. I'm actually working with a local shop right now for tires. I'm thinking of going with the Michelin PS2.

Alright, thanks for the info...I will definately consider that when doing my tire shopping(I've got some nice horseshoe bends near my house that I like to play with, and I'd hate for tire roll to eat my lip up). Let me know what you end up goin with, and I'll get at ya when I make my purchase next week.
Thanks
Brad

Grrr!!! I can't make up my mind !?!

I would go for Toyo T1S but they don't make the sizes I'm looking for so I'm now in the bind of trying to select between the following:

BF Goodrich KDW2
Continental SportContact 2
Michelin PS2

Can anyone tell me which ones are better or recommend something else that is better than the ones listed? I would be very interested in hearing the Pros & Cons for these tires.

Thanks,
James

275 is better for a 10" rim, 285 is more for 10.5" IMO. If you have big sleek rims, why buy bubble tires?

Actually, it's not bad at all. I've seen people run these on the same size wheels. It just adds a little added cushion due to a slightly larger sidewall. Anyways...anyone have any suggestions on what tires to get?

I have 20x8.5 in front with 245/35 20 Michelin pilot sport A/S
and 20x10 in rear with 275/35 20 Michelin pilot sport A/S

I love them. I have plenty of protection up front and rear.

Nice! I think these are actually the KDW-2's (which I'm also considering) because the regular KDW's has totally different tread patterns. The site that you have indicated shows it as the KDW's.

KDW-2:

KDW:

Thanks again for your feedback!
