Default UNDERSTEAR! Need advice.............

Well I have completed my suspension/wheel mods and the car continues to understear; much more than I would like.

My config is Hotchkis TVS (springs/sways), GTSPEC front & rear lower tie braces and Volk GTC's in 19 with 245/275 Toyo rubber. The sways are set to medium/medium. What else can I do to this setup to reduce understear?

I am willing to change settings or possibly add something but I don't want to change out any of the current components since I just spent $$$$$ on them.

Set the front bars to softer than MED and the rears to stiffer
Also Try wider front tires if possible

Hope that helps!!

Edit: Stiffer...not harder

Axxizzer has it right. You might start by setting the swaybars to med/med since that's easy to do and won't cost you any more money. However, a 245/275 tire stagger is going to cause a lot of understeer. Getting wider front tires will help balance the car out a lot. When my current tires wear out, I'm going with wider fronts for sure.

One thing to keep in mind is that a big tire stagger will be hard to overcome with just suspension mods. Changing your swaybar settings will help, but you'll still get some understeer with sudden oversteer at the limit. Balancing out the tire stagger will make the car more balanced in general.

A friend of mine has a funny setup on his car. He put Toyo RA-1 tires up front, and T1-S in the back. (I think he's still using the stock tire sizes on his stock rims.) I think he also has stock suspension. After he went to the track with that setup, he said it balanced the car out a lot. He even said his instructor commented on how balanced the car was.

reduce traction in back, increase it in front. your probably have the back set to the most traction possible, but with wider rubber, its not gonna let go. you need to help it along; sounds bad, but till you put the engine in the back; your kinda stuck.
