Default Polished lip powdercoated Track Rays

One pic is before powdercoat. Lip looks scratched but it is tape residue. Had them glass bead blasted, lip high speed polished and then powdercoated with stardust silver. They are dirty and fingerprinted. I'll have better pics later. Having them clear coat the lip after I clean it up.

What do you think?

SWEET! Where did you have this done? The reason I ask is that I've been told my many shops that they WILL NOT powdercoat forged wheels b/c they WILL crack during the process. Would be interested in hearing more about the process you had done to ensure this wouldn't happen.

SPF400
I have $80 for bead blasting, $130 for polishing and $200 for powdercoat in these. Plus the cost of the wheels and my time to tape (twice for a total of 4 hours) and run all over central Pa to find the best place not price to get them done. If they can't do it to my standards then they can't do it.....kind of wierd like that.

bigfatjeffk

I talked to several shops about coating and they said 30 minutes at 400 degrees would not be a problem. Plus the oven is at 400, I doubt the wheel ever reaches that temp. None of them had any concerns. I ask this because I read the same info on this board. They are just melting the powder not the wheel. I had to put this special tape on the lip so they could coat it and I couldn't even tell that the tape was in the oven when I took it off....my point how could the wheel get damaged. You can see the green tape in some of the pics. It is very very thin and doesn't look any different then before it was heated. That was good enough for me to believe that the wheels are just fine.

Couple more pics. Should have them on the car by the end of the month for those who ask I will post pics. Added another of the way it looked after bead blast as well.

I have to say that all the work really paid off. Very happy with the final results. Can't wait to get them on the car. But then it will just sit in the garage till all the winter crap is off the roads

Honestly, those look phenomenal ... kinda wish I hadn't sold mine now .... I always loved em, but they needed polished lips (which you did PERFECTLY) and needed to be 18x9, 18x10 .... and I never could see widening them ... but damn with a set of spacers on the car these will look awesome.

Default THANKS GUYS

I promise in the next 2 weeks they will be done and mounted. I'll send hi res to those who ask and post pics on the car in this thread. Glad to see that other people had the same idea. I always liked the track wheels but agree that they needed something. This was the something that worked for me. Amazing though how much effort it takes to get people to understand what you are trying to accomplish. I'm one of those PITA customers that stay on it so it turns out the way I want it. Thanks again for your opinions.

Any thoughts on center caps??
I have the Z ones from courtesy....not sure about them.

Dan

how about finding a close factory color and using duplicolor's spray touch up paint. it will be hard to find a body shop willing to put the effort into 4 center caps.
