Default Touring and Track (TPS-equipped) owners with aftermarket wheels

I am aware that the TPS gauge will display "- - -" when you don't/can't incorporate the TPS into the new wheels.

I am planning on getting 19s. I am also planning on using them w/o the TPS. I've been told that after certain amount of driving time (45 min?) that the gauge will beep until you shut off the car... or something like that.

How are you dealing with it? Or does it just display "- - -" only?

I don't recall any beeping. I only remember "---" being displayed.

From my experience,
When my tps displayed any # and when it loses it and display "--", then it beeps.

But when it begins with "--", it never made any beep.

I'm not positive but I thought some one came up with a strap of some kind to incorporate the TPS into after market wheels.

just my $.02

I used this method, works great! The only thing I did different was run a thin band of duct tape around the inside the rim where the strap was going to help secure it a little more. The straps were fairly expensive, I think about $30 for 10 of them plus shipping (smallest quantity I could find).

oh yeah, if you need to have them calibrated, the dealership will have to use the alternate method, where they put a specific pressure in each tire and drive the car with the consult attatched. I had to tell my dealership that this method existed.

You can use the TPS with certain aftermarket wheels, I'm going to mount them to the wheels I just bought, Volk LE37T's.

Hey Bagelmeister, I just saw you yesterday at Evolution. I was the guy loading up the Volks into my Prelude. You have a nice ride, I like the blacked out look.

another way to calibrate the strap method is to put a tape on the lip of the wheel on the exact position of the sensor. This way when they calibrate it with the probe, they can go right to the wheels instead of searching for it through out the whole wheel. Another way is always strap the sensor close to the valve stem. For easy way to find it.
