Default 17's wheels and tire suggestions for track use?

Looking for a lower cost, but still performance oriented package. Anyone with some first hand experience going this route? Thanks in advance.

What kind of budget are we talking, that will help narrow things down a little.

Thanks 2003z I'll chekc those out. Chris, I'm shooting for under 1K for the wheels since that is what I would pay for a used set of Track Rays.

I got the MB competitions at $132.00 a piece from Discount tire. I think they were only 20 pounds each. Not the lightest but not too bad either.

17 by 9" front and rear. 27offset. 255/45/17 front, 275/40/17 rear, although if you want maximum stick and it's just for track use, 275's front and rear. They'll fit and you can rotate tires front to rear. I run Toyo RA1's as well. Good tire with decent tread life (for an R compound) and not too pricey. www.aimtire.com

I'm running the same wheels as track wheels. I'm running 275-40/17 tires all around. No rubbing, shorter gearing and tons of grip

Any problems with the VDC getting thrown off?

No and I usually run with VDC on on the racetrack, trying to work on smoothness and I use the slip light to evaluate myself.

I don't have VDC but TCS sometimes gets confused running the same tires all around. Like I'll be on an on ramp where I could go say 100+ but for no reason, TCS will kick in and cut the throtle. I just turn it off when I'm on the track or it starts to intervene for no reason. I also run the same size tire all around on the street.

Perhaps. What size / spec wheels are you running. And I still need to find out if these wheels clear the 13" Stoptech kit. You happen to know if they do? Thanks. Oh lastly which finish do you have?

Ooops sorry speedform, just realized you posted above with the specs. I still need to find out if they clear the Stoptechs though so any info you have on this would be greatly appreciated. Lastly what are you looking for if you were to sell them?
