Default Got some new wheels

I have never been much of a wheel kind of guy and loved the Rays I picked up a couple of years ago. But a couple of things made me start to think, one was the traction problem with the TT and second was seeing all of those fricking wheels at Z fest.

Well, the right situation came up, a member of our club works for a wheel manufacturer Status Wheels here in FL and decided to design a line of wheels that were perfect for the 350Z, right offset to be just right with the fender and also be able to clear Brembo's. A couple of months ago he asked if they could use my car for a photo ad and I said sure, well afterwards they offered me any set of wheels at cost so I just couldn't resists.

The first pictures is of the ad they did for Import Tuner and the rest are of the car after we put them on this morning. The spokes are Hyperblack which as he explained they paint the wheel black and then apply clearcoat with silver in it so it looks like a dark chrom pretty neat look, reflects light differently.

Anyway here are the pics:

Thanks,

I had a concern with weight since I had the Track Rays, I have not weighed them but when I went to get them installed I picked one up and was surprised at the weight I was expecting something I couldn't lift specially since they are wider so more metal and more rubber. I went with the 18's as there is a wider choice of tires and also cheaper, specially since I have had three sets of tires so far.

You can contact Scott at scott@statuswheels.com just tell him you saw them on the forum and need to find a retailer for his wheels. He is a cool guy here is a pic of his 540 RWHP 300ZX

The way it was explained is that the wheel is actually painted black and then they spray it with clear coat with silver in it. It is pretty cool how it looks different in different lighting.

No kidding....I really like it. Would look good on my PPW......damn!! Here I go again.

Anyway, do you know if they offer custom offsets, will the TPS fit, are the outer rims clearcoated, and are the wheels cast or forged?

Thanks!

I think the TPS will fit as he asked me if I had them before the put the tires on. I know they are a low pressure casting which I guess is why they are not heavy like I had expected. The rest I am not sure just drop Scott a line he is pretty cool and should answer all questions scott@statuswheels.com

Wow, does his company make the wheels he has on the 300ZX? Those look amazing! I didn't see them on their website.

No, he had those before he went to the manufacturing side, those are Racing Dynamics S-5s 19x8.5/19x10 (painted body color), which I think went out of business.

Pricing for the 18's is around 800-900 and 1200-1300 for the 19's, Soctt is the manufacturer so send him an email to find out where yo ucan buy them.

They are low pressure cast aluminum, and mine are hyperblack which they paint the wheel blackk and then apply a clear coat with silver in it to give it the shiny/chromy look. I did not weigh them but just by lifting one it did not seem much heavier than the Rays considering it is an inch wider plus more rubber on it.

email Scott at scott@statuswheels.com and just mention the forum and he will know it is about the 350Z Ruff wheels.
