I asked the same question in a new thread 3 days ago and haven't gotten a response yet hehe

One of my main questions is about the offsets and if they actually mean anything besides the huge lip everybody wants in the rear wheels...personally I think it looks bad having two different offsets.

You guys haven't gotten a response because your question is so vague and there is such a wealth of threads talking about these things if you will use the search button. I mean you first need to decide if you want 19"s or 20"s. Then we can tell you which tires to get. If you want a nice lip on the front and bigger in the back go with the common 9.5" wide wheel with a +20s offset in the front and a 10.5" +20s offset in the back.

Actually I dont want people to spec out a wheel for me. I just want people to explain what the benefits are of having a lip or smaller tire in front and wider in back and so forth.

I plan on getting a TT setup in the future so it would make sense to get like a 275 in the back for better traction correct? One of my main questions is if the offset serves a purpose for anything other then looks? It might be used to fit large break calipers I suppose, right?

The benefits of having a wider setup in the rear is the fact that our cars come from the factory that way, and the rear wheels are what power the car and therefore need more traction. If you are upgrading wheels you should always run at least a 275 in the back. The offset is used to determine how far the wheels sticks out or in and does effect whether or not a big brake kit will fit. The smaller the offset the more the wheels stick out, the bigger the lip, and the less of a chance a BBK will fit.

Ok so 275s in the back and 245s in the front should be ok then, right? Ok, so a generious inch or so lip would be in the +40s mm offset? Also, do you have to take into consideration the overal diameter of the stock wheel/tire and the new wheel/tires your buying? If you have 17s on /50 tirewall then getting 19s on /40s, would that mess up your odometer or speedometer?

I don't think I've ever heard "generous" and "one-inch lip" used together before...

Like it's been said, anything from +20 to +35 in widths from 8 to 9.5 in the front and 9 to 10.5 (or even 11) in the rear will work fine, but each will look slightly different depending on the exact specs... tell me a wheel, and I'll tell you what options you have...
