Painting stock wheels black?
Getting a redline next week and i'd like to have black wheels instead of silver ones. Now, as opposed to spending $2000 on new wheels, how about i just paint them black? Are there any reasons why i shouldn't do that? Seems like a good idea to me.

I painted mine black about 6 months ago they still look great. You need to use some adhesion promoter before you paint them or the spraypaint scratch off real easy. Powder coating is slightly better but if you do the paint properly it is almost as durable and is much cheaper.

What's adhesion promoter? And what kind of paint should i use? I want them to be as shiny as possible. I think my friend has the necessary equipment (compressor & gun?) as he painted part of his civic on his own.

I thought about painting my stock wheels in black, but i'm glad I left it the stock titanium finish. I personally think that an all black wheel without a polished lip of some sort for contrast makes the wheel look raw and "spare-wheel-ish" but I guess it depends on the lok you are after. When picking up my 997, I noticed a black 996 Turbo with oem wheels painted/powdercoated black, and imho made the turbo look a little cheaper. However the same exact car inside the showroom had black wheels with a nice polished lip and looked much classier. In the end, it is your car so do with it as you will. Good luck with your decision.
