do you guys need deep socket to take off the lug nuts?

I would suggest a "nice chrome thin-walled socket" my friend. Works great for me. And I always carry it in case some shop needs to remove a wheel of mine. The length is pretty standard @ 4in.

I use some lugs they sent me with my wheels.... I am not sure if they are longer or not.

however, I think it is a good idea to have the long 6 corner socket around for the purpose of taking the wheels off

It also depends on the model. My GT-C uses bolts that have a hex socket type tool to remove them, so you don't use a walled type socket on the outside if the bolt. The hex tool goes inside the lug nut.

it appeals to me that i'll either need a longer lug nuts or a deep socket to take the wheels off?

Yeah I had to use a thin walled deep socket two put my wheels on. I'm going to order a Rays lug nut set, so that my help.
