If you are going with 285 35 19 in the back go with 255 / 35 / 19 in the front
A lot of people do it that way including myself. You need a drop for those to look good. However any drop 1 inch or more will require rolling your rear fenders

 

None of it still matters without what wheels width and offset. Idk why you would shop for tires before buying rims.

 

You need wider front tires relative to those rears unless you want major under steer. Id go with 255/35 or 265/35 with 285/35 in the rear.

Wheels: F-19x9.5 and R-19x11
Tires: 245/35/19 & 295/30/19

I just got my new rear tires installed. Went from Hankook v12 "285" to Bridgestone Potenza S04 "295".

As soon as I drove off from the shop, I noticed the steering wheel responsiveness got softer and on the highway aggressively switching between lanes added some body roll to the rear. Cornering doesn't feel as nearly as stiff as with on old tires.

Can someone please explain me what the hell just happened??? It drove perfect with 285/35/19 and when I switched to 295/30/19 the game has totally changed?

I am running a stock camber kit, the car is not lowered. I have Koni suspension, but it doesn't really effect the height. The fronts are at 85.75 and rears are at 88.5 so they are higher. Any ideas??? Thanks!

 

Go back to your 285s. Otherwise put at least 255s in the front. Front and rear ratios do matter my friend.

 

I know it does, but how certain you feel that going from 245 to 255 for the front will resolve my issue? Thanks!

 

I know guys that have that combination. Spend some time in the 19 inch wheel discussion thread. The most popular for those that want bigger rears is 255/35/19 front and 285/35/19 rear. Looks better with a drop. I have that combo myself. I had 245/35/19 and 275/35/19 before but the currrent one looks awesome.

 

I had that set up before, 255/35/19 and 285/35/19 - I think it was the best combination... damn, I still got over 50% of life on my front tires.

I just tried playing with my tire pressure for the rear. I started at 35psi, and went up to 40psi, then I went down to 30psi. The handling at 30psi has been the best so far, but still not as good as my previous set up... I also just realized, my front tires are at 35psi, I think they actually have to be lower?

 

I end up with 32psi for rear and 30psi for the front. Handles quiet well, but the rear is still few milliseconds slower then the front.

It does make sense, because my old rear tires height was 99.75 and the new tires height is 88.5.... and now i'm thinking, if my current front tire which is 245/35/19 is 85.75 and I'll go with 255/35/19 this will make front 89.25, which is going to be higher then the rear? so it only must be 255/30/19 and it's 76.5 which very low??? ... I must agree that 255/35/19 and 285/35/19 must be the best set up, because the rear sits much higher then the front, where now? they are almost equal in height.

 

Hello members Im in the market for some new wheels and seen a set of ssr being sold here by a fellow member. My concerns are they wheels might be to wide for the front. Also if they clear my alkabeno BBK
Spec of the wheels are 19x10.5 +15 all around. The back I know are fine but the fronts are the ones that worry me. My car is a 2008 touring Z with about 1.2 inch drop all around. My questions would be would they fit out rolling fenders? Would I need to run spacers? Would I need camber? If so how much? What's the biggest size tire I can run for fronts? And last would these wheels clear my BBK?

in short... with stock camber up front you won't want to exceed a 265/35/R18 tire, so you might as well do that all around. You will need to roll your fenders in the back moderately with that tire, more if you went up to a 285.

I can't speak for the brake clearance of those wheels.

 

I know there a lot of threads about this topic already and there are many who may have a similar setup that I am looking for but I can't seem to find anyone who mentions that it has not caused them problems. I am looking to buy tires for a new set of rims I bought and I want to make sure I order the right sizes with no fitment and treadwear issues because I don't want to go through the hassle of returning and re-ordering a new set. I am lowered 1.5 inches all around on the Eibach Pro Kit with spc camber arms in the rear (probably going to need toe bolts as well) and I am definitely going to roll my rear fenders before I mount tires on. My rim specs are 19x9.5 +12 (front) and 19x10.5 +12 (rear). As for the tire specs my original plan was to go with 245/35/19 (front) and 275/35/19 (rear). This is the most popular size people go with from what I have searched. However, I want a more aggressive meaty look so now I want to go with 255/40/19 (front) and 285/35/19 (rear). Will this work? Any input would help a lot. Thanks!

 

255/40/19 is too tall in my opinion

run it against stock size at this web site it will show the diff, 25.9 tall on stock and 27 tall on the new setup

I have same spec rim as well but my offsets are +17 front and+18 rear.
I have 255/35/19 front and 285/35/19
Rear. I am dropped 1 inch all around
I had to roll my rear fenders but I still rub a bit if I hit a bad dip. With your offsets and drop I will not go any wider or bigger than what you are stating. Also you will have to do a good job on the fender roll
