worth it to get a BBK?
I have the brembos now, and Im looking to upgrade to a BBK, mainly the Wilwood 13" front and rear kit. Im just wondering if its worth it to do this. I know the brembos are a decent setup, but is the 13" Wilwood that much of an improvement in performance? I road race occasionally now, and could use some better brakes, but would I be better just changing rotors, lines, fluids, and save some cash, or get the BBK?

Just installed the StopTech 13" BBK & 600 fluid........I don't track or auto-x at this time, but ready for it if I start - ha! I didn't have Brembos on my '04 Touring Z, but I know several that do & they seem to work pretty darn good with aggressive pads, ss lines & hi-temp fluid. I know the difference between the OEM setup & the larger BBK is substantial (handles the fade better, larger & more pistons for a tighter stopping feel, looks, etc.). Wouldn't imagine the difference between a BBK & the Brembos (with above-mentioned additions) would add THAT much more performance for an "occasional" track visit. One good thing if you do upgrade - you'll get a pretty good price on your Brembos - will pay for at least 1/2 of your Wilwood setup!! Just invest in separate sets of pads for the track vs. street....performance/grip/ more dust on the track vs. decent performance/lesser grip/ LESS DUST on the street. Just my opinion...........

I switched from the non-Brembro setup to having just the front 13" Stoptech kit. I also upgraded the rear rotors to Stoptech as well as the lines. I felt this was a very cost effective way to improve overall braking since the front brakes are really the workhorse brakes on the car. With the Brembro setup however, the one thing you could try first is upgrading the lines to SS lines and flushing with new fluid. That is pretty cheap and you will feel a big difference in pedal response as it will be more firm and easier to apply the right of amount of braking for your road racing. I absolutely can't stand other brakes on cars that do not have SS lines now as they are mushy feeling and I always hit them harder than I need to hehe.
