Interested in hearing more people on what size is "ideal performance" for the stock z33 8.5 in rear wheels and what about the front? I have only stuck to the stock configuration but would welcome a wider tire on my stock wheels? What is the right choice for DD with performance in mind...also what about getting higher mph..would certain size affect that
thanks

I'm not sure who told you they wouldn't fit? It's just overkill for that wheel

Fastest combo on the track would probably be 245/40 front and 255/40 rear

Thank you! Is this due to being slightly wider but close to OE size thus better grip and no issues with fitment? Im about to buy new rear tires. (Florida ) for 200usd each what would be a recommend tire...im looking at the BFG KDW and also some dunlops! Any ideas

Yeah but him being an idiot isn't because he put a 275 on a 8.5" wheel, if he wants his tires stuffed on there so it looks like a nissan murano than that's his decision. It's his condescension towards other members, claiming they couldn't possibly have the apparently unattainable knowledge that his tire dealer buddy has, all while coming off like an idiot himself.

+1

While I prefer to buy my tires at Discount Tire I've yet to find a tech/salesman that is on the same page as me. It's good that he has faith in his friend, but you're right about him being a douche.

Enjoy your vacation, djguyyz. Please use this time to think about not starting fights, using inappropriate language, etc - and consider returning to act like a reasonable adult on here. Everyone else, carry on.

Default I hate to ask this question......

I did a search but the S/N ratio is pretty low for what I need to know. No suspension or BBK issues,

Background:

-07 with standard brakes
-no suspension mods, stock height
-need a set of rims for the track. DE only, no racing or TT
-want a square set up so I can rotate/ save money
-not concerned about looks

What I want or at least think I want:

-18x9 inch rims all around. They have 35mm offset (OEMs have 33mm)
-255/45/R18 tires all around.

Question is, will I need any spacers (don't trust offset calculator)? Will there be any rubbing issues up front at full lock with 255s on these rims. Should or could I use a wider (265) or lower profile (40) tire on these 9 inch rims?

I suspect someone probably knows the answers off the top of their head and I'd appreciate that. If not I can ask in the Motorsports forum.

Mostly don't want to make a tire/wheel combo order that doesn't fit.

Thanks.

no you will not have rubbing issues with 255's. At stock height, I don't even think you can rub in the front with those series tires. And if you are not concerned about looks, why would you need any spacers??

you will need spacers if you want the "flush" look. If you just want them to fit, then the 255/45 all around should be fine on a 9" wheel.

You will need to use a tire size calculator and make sure you are staying close to the original tire height ratio.

But IMHO, all that you seem to list almost takes you backwards from stock..not forwards.

Your rear tires are not getting much wider, your rim is only .5 wider and your offset is higher than stock...

There are plenty of examples of square setups on the forum and especially in this thread for you to browse.

I would suggest you look for something in the 18x9.5 (+22) range with 265-40-18 all around. You can browse this thread and there are several examples as well.

Please post or PM me your wheel budget and tire budget.

My suggestion and not knowing anything on budget would be a nice Rota P45r , boost, grid, DPT or whatever from them in 18x9.5 +20. This will set you back right around $1k and you will have good wheels as your needs may change in the future. Then for tires, 255/40-18 , 265/35-18 or 275/35-18 all around will work great. You will have no rubbing or clearance issues.

Wheels are available at http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/ind...87_346&&page=2 if your budget is a bit higher, look into Enkei RPF1 in 18x9.5 +15 but that offset is at the point you may need camber arms and added camber. I highly suggest running a minimum of -1.5 for a trackday car for better grip and tire life.

Thanks guys. This is all pretty much budget driven. I'm just looking for something as good as or better than stock wheels for an extra set for the track. At TireRack.com if you get into wheels that give you 9.5" or 10" you get into the higher end wheels and more money.

I have even considered getting a used set of four stock 18" rears just to save money. Unfortunately these things are still pricey on eBay.

And there is a (very) remote chance I might get into Spec Z in a couple of years. The rules allow for max of 9" wide on the front and 10" wide on the rear. So I'd like to be able to use whatever I buy in Spec Z even if it is just a back up set or something to put rain tires on.

The obvious solution is Enkei PF-whatevers but I just don't have the cash.

So I'm open to any reasonably cheap, square set up.

Terrasmak, I'll email you but I'd say my budget for wheels and tires is under $2k. I know that isn't much but I'm not looking for racing tires yet, just sticky summer tires like Star Specs.
