As for you guys with the gap fetish (you know who you are and you know you need help) I appreciate the critique but I can't even express in words how little I care about how that looks. However, the driveway slopes down toward the front of the car. When it sits on the level street the gap in the rear is a little less noticeable.

You will be happy to know that if/when I start to move toward Spec Z I will put a KW suspension kit on it and that lowers things a little. But that's a long way away.
Whatever makes you happy..that's all that counts. I guess you wanted sqaure set up, instead of the 275/40s in the rear.
You indicated that track performance was important..ok..then why those Hancooks? I would think you would have picked a tire more suitable for street/track use? Did you get some kind of deal on these? Not knocking your pick of tires..just curious.

I was just reading the 73mm off of Enkei's size chart. If the ring fits then you're good. It's only a .4mm difference if there actually is a difference.

Ran out of money.

A set of RS-3s (or similar in 265/35/18) was going to be over $1200. These were on sale, mounted, balanced and out the door for $800. Couldn't turn it down.

The square set up was not a performance decision either. Also driven by budget. I can rotate these and run them backwards (when dry) and get a lot more use out of them. (For you guys who don't track your cars, you can use up a set of tires in 3-4 weekends at the track. Tires are a huge ongoing expense.)

I have run these tires on the track (on my G35 6MT coupe) and they are not bad for someone in DE like myself. I think they make a decent drive 'em to the track street tire. They are superb for DD. And they will be worlds better than the El Dorado Velozza all season radials (fine for DD, suck at the track, dangerous when wet) I've run at the last 3 track days. So even though they aren't what I wanted they will be a big step up and by the time they're worn out hopefully I'll have the money for something better and I'll have improved enough to be able to know and take advantage of the difference.

How's that for rationalization?

And again, I know it is sacrilege to say so on this site but for the most part looks are not an issue for me. I like it to be clean and neat and I really like the way it looks out of the box. Other than that, it is not for show.

In fact, I did not even buy the Enkeis for the looks. I got them because they were the cheapest, lightest wheels I could find with +15 offset.

Next track day is less than two weeks away. I'm very eager to find out if better, wider tires, lighter wheels and better brakes (replacing EBC YellowStuff with CarboTech XP10s front and XP8s rear). When I look at my most recent videos I felt like I was having to brake way sooner than I should. These changes should help.

I thought the same thing but the Gorilla website had an example of how to pick rings and it said the 72 for the Enkeis. If I had not seen that I would have bought the 73s. The 72s are so tight I'm not sure the 73 would fit.

Default 245/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear?

All:

Just need some feedback... I have 18x9 aftermarket wheels all the way around and have always run 245s in the front and 265s in the back. Looking at buying new tires and want a very specific set - Dunlop Direzza Star Spec.

I have driven on these in an M3 and they are amazing summer tires. Liked them much more than pilots sports, etc.

Anyways, these only come in 265/35/18 in the back so if I went this route, I would have a 40 sidewall up front and 35 in the back. 275 is just too wide for my 18x9s so I need to stay at 265s.

Do you all thing i would have any issues with this setup? Must I have a 40 sidewall in the back if thats what I have upfront?

Thanks in advance.

265 /35 is smaller diam than 245/40 front ..not optimal and violates VDC if you have it. VDC requires LARGER rear tires by 3%. VDC will accept equal front and rear (3% variance). Run 245/40/18 all around or 265/35.

Does anyone make a lift kit for the Z?

15 offset with 9.5s is almost 1.5" farther outboard vs stock. Plus, it's a slighly taller tire (5mm less verticle clearance). 265/35 would prolly have been better choice up front and it just might avoid the rubbing.

Default 255/40 vs. 245/40 for the front

Anyone have comments on running 255/40 vs. 245/40 on 18x9.5 +22 wheels in the front? I have 275/40 on 18x9.5 +22 for the rear.

Either will work, 255 will have less under steer and less stretch.

OK, thanks. I noticed that with a 18x9.5 +22 offset wheel that the edge of the wheel sites just outside the front fender edge. Maybe I should have gone with 18X8.5 with a + 25 offset? And then run a 245/40 tire?

What are your camber specs though? If you're in the safest range then you'll see what you're seeing, but if you go a bit more aggressive with the front camber it won't look like that. I'm running an 18x9.5 +20 up front and know exactly what you're saying, but with more negative camber (set for autoX not for this look) that effect went away.

No need to run the smaller wheel or tire. You will not rub. The 9.5 inch wheel does not stick out at all when at ride height.
