Default Feathering and Aftermarket Wheels/Tires

ok....

I read about so many "feathering"of the tires, and it took me a little bit of a search to find out what exacrtly was being discussed here, well now that i kinda have an idea of whats going on,i have a few questions.

The tires are wearing out,due to improper alignment or suspension issues?

There;s people who had replaced many sets of tires and had many alignments and the issue still came back to haunt them!>?

What about all of you who have after market wheels/tires on your Z,does this hapen with the aftermarket wheels/tires too?

If so,what is that mean?that you need to go and align your car every once in a while, and might even have to replace your tires every so often?just this time the dealer does not do any work on your car, because you have put after market wheels on>?

That would suck big time, because we all know that aftermarket 19" or 20" tires are not cheap, and if the problem still occurrs, then i need to get ready to pay some decent amounts of cash every once in a while for alignment and tires....???

Just to make something perfectly clear!i did not find a thread where people have talked about this issue with the after market wheels/tires!I understand that the issue regarding the tire feathering was mentioned one too many times possibly, but i rather ask, then not.Thanx to everyone who finds the time to reply.

I haven't found a definitive answer to this, one way or another. Plenty of maybe threads, but nothing absolutely definitive.

So I've read.

I remember reading some posts that have said yes, though you'll find plenty of posts by people who said an alignment solved all their problems, thousands of miles later (both with stock tires and with aftermarket).

The dealer isn't going to replace your aftermarket tires, even if they develop the same issue you had with stock tires. Or at least I can't recall a single thread where someone got aftermarket tires replaced.

It seems frequent alignments/checks are recommended regardless of whether you have stock or aftermarket tires.

I had feathering, not too long after a Nissan alignment and new tires I replaced the them with aftermarket rims and tires and got a professional mechanical alignment soon after that, and will probably get another alignment and check the tires to see how they are doing very soon.

Visiting family and friends (the wife's). We also took a swing through Tokyo to check it out. It will be nice to get back to the states though.

Odd, I've owned many sports cars and this would be the first one that made one choose between "handle like ****" or "deal with it!" -weird.

I'm sure people will pass things through you before posting. Honestly, if you want to help the person asking the question, then help them. If not, skip the thread.

what "sport cars" have you owned? im sure their camber wasnt anywherre near the z's specs. the camber on the z's is alot. and thats good for a short road coarse. not high speed turns though. maybe the cars you owned didnt run all the camber the z has, and anyways alot of the z's if not all came misaligned from the factory. plain and simple .... neg. camber= tire feathering

Would various models of Porsches qualify as "sports cars" or are those not sports car enough? You're sure "their camber wasnt anywherre near the z's specs?" -even though you didn't know what cars they were? As all the young kids say, "Mad Skillz!"
