I just got two new T1Rs to replace my S03's for the back of my car. I've driven the car for about an hour after the install was done, and I can say that the traction on these is horrible. I took an onramp last night at around 95 and felt VERY confident with my handling, and the same onramp today caused me to nearly loose control of my car at 50! WTF?

I have the S03's and was thinking of getting the T1R after that.

I heard the T1R are an improved version of the T1S but now I might stay with the S03's again, best tire I've tried so far.

 

I'm willing to give them time, but I never had the amount of loss of traction before with any new tires I've ever bought... maybe the Toyo tires are just extra slick when new compared to others... I'll see how they feel in a few days

 

dont worry yet. maybe your right. give them more time. also depending on the type of compound in the tire some take alot longer to heat up than others.

 

Always, always give them some miles to wear off the silicone mold release. Tire makers generally use a slippery compound to release the tire from the mold. Many a motorcycle rider has learned the hard way--when taking a sharp turn with brand new tires.

 

This is how my T-1s' felt right after I put them on.

Give them a few more miles and report.

 

That was almost me once...

I got a nail in my rear tire once and had to replace it, jsut a few miles from the tire shop i had to stop for a light, and i locked up my rear with hardly any rear brake pressure... that was a little scary...

 

Give it about 400 miles for break in and it should be good to go.

I got my Toyo T1r's installed yesterday afternoon. (Front 245/35/19 and Rear 275/35/19), MAN! I love these rubbers. Very quiet on low and high speed. They actually ride very smooth.
Rubbers really do HUG the payment really well. Considering Dallas temp is around 100 so far. I got mine mount & balance with tax for $875. For the price, I would HIGHLY recommend them.

 

Is it good to mix tires on the 350 or any car at that. If I had to replace a couple of tires i would go ahead and replace all four on my previous vehicles. Of course most of them were four wheel drives. Well thats my opinion of course, I just figured if you could afford a car such as this then you could afford to pay for a complete set of tires. Hope im not offending anyone.

 

Nope, you're right on the money. Mixing tires is not a good thing since you're mixing too many variables with different tire compounds...

 

yes definitely give it some time, those tires have some lubeage that needs to wear off first.

My T1R's have been the same way the guy's at SPY Engineering actually told me to take it easy for a while until they wore down a bit.
So yeah, on any new tire give it some tire before you go all crazy.
Plus when you get new tires & wheels installed I learned that you have to take it easy especially on RWD as if you go flooring it and spin the tires you can actually spin the rim around the tire and then lose the balance. This is from the lube they use to mount the tires. It has to dry first, especially in humid climates.

I ordered mine through Discount Tire in Dallas, TX.
Instead of getting a quote directly through them, always get few other quotes and than go to Discount. They will match the price.
But, make sure you provide them with pricing and where you got the quotes. (phone number, who you spoke to..etc...)
