Question Tire Pressure Sensors....do they really work?

The tire pressure readout I get from the onboard computer is about 5 psi lower than the actual pressure determined from a good gauge. This means I am on the edge of a low pressure alarm when I actualy have 35 psi in the tires. Anyone else have this problem. The dealer says the system is working fine..........sure!! I have a 2005 Touring model 350Z with 4000 miles.

Ask your dealer to recalibrate them, they do this through there computer. They did it to mine and it is more accurate then when I first got the car.

Mine are always within ±1psi. Is yours off on one sensor or all four? Are you sure it's not the gauge? After years of using cheap pencil and dial gauges I broke down and ordered a "racing" gauge. Cost about $35 but it has been worth every penny. Very accurate, easy to read, etc.

All four sensors indicate 4-5 psi low. Checked tires with two accurate gauges. Must be a computer error.............maybe it can be calibrated. Thanks.

I am constantly checking my tire pressures and they (TPS) are always reading very close if not exact to my tire gauge.

Just purchased a 35th Anniv Z....just had an issue with TPS warning
coming on....the TPS indicated one of the tires was at 25 psi, checked
with my digital guage, none of the tires were below 32. I set all four
corners at 37 psi, the TPS show various pressures for all for tires, however,
the warning light is off.

I may take it in and have it looked at.....

I know it's slightly off topic with regard to accuracy but my TPS just saved my rim and maybe my a** last weekend. I was canyon carving and picked up a nail. Alarm went off, I pulled over and had about 30 seconds before the tire went flat. Had I not had those things I would have likely found out by loosing control on a turn! So, yes, they "work"!

I took my sensors off my factory rims and put them on some new set of wheels, it always varies (+/-2 or 3 psi), I was told that when the tires are cold (usually overnight) you will get a higher reading. But it won't hurt to calibrate. I wonder what kind of reading you get when you one of your tires blows up... "YOUR SCREWED"...

My alarm just went off a couple of days ago (scaired the crap out of me!) and when I got home my dad checked my tires and they were within 1 or 2. Mine works.

This is probably a RTFM question, but I'll ask anyway... How do you display the tire pressure from the computer?
