275 or 285 on 10.5" rim ?? Need help.
Hey guys I currently have a set of Raching Hart CR on my Z in 9.5 F and 10.5 rear and i'm running Toyo TS-1 in 245/35/19 F and 275/35/19 R
Now the Toyos stick pretty good but Im not super happy with them and I was going to go to BFG G-Forces. However while looking online at differenttire specs I came across something I found strange.
Oh one other thing ... I'm going from a 35 series in the rear to a 30 series so that the side walls look more even.
When looking online BFG's 275/30/19 it say rim widths of 9-10" however when looking at the same size in Toyos it says 9-10-11" ... they are both the same size so which one is correct? I dont want to get that real streched look like some people have when they put to narrow of a tire on a rim. I then thought that I could just go to a 285/30/19 insted which Toyo makes ..... but then I can t get that site in the BFG
Anyone have any advice?

Been discussed before, the general consensus was
275/30 series tires are not the way to go
Although that will result in similiar side wall height to your 245/35 fronts, it doesnt meet the stagger "required" by your TCS/VDC of 0.5-0.75 inch diameter difference between front/rear ("required" is in quotes, however, since the origin of the 0.5-0.75 specification is unknown to me)
If you dont like the stretched look then 275/30 is definitely going to disappoint you. Some even argue that 275/35 is too stretched. I would recommend the 285/35 size, but may have to step up to a 255/35 front to maintain the stagger. Many on this site have those exact tires and look good.
hope that helps

10.5 wide rims looks really good with a 285. i currently have racing harts too with 10.5 in rear and im running 295/30 michellin ps2 in rear..its a beefy tire but it protects my rim and sticks to the ground like no other.. i use to have the toyo t1 and didnt like the stretched look. imo i would go with a 285 although you might have to roll your fenders.
I have TE37's 10.5 rear width and I'm going w/ 285's. I don't like that stretched look either. I have heard though that BFG KDW NT run "wider" and don't look as stretched as their other 275/35 conterparts. Do a search. Good luck.
If you go with 285/35 with BF Goodrich g-Forces you'll have to roll the fenders, but not bad. That's what I had to do with mine. They def. are better and seem to have more grip than the 275's I used to have!

attached is a image of my 275/35/19 toyo ts-1. I dont think they look streched IMO. But I hate how the side wall is taller then the front tires.
Top Sec. runs 245/35/19 F and 275/30/19 Rear on the white Z with the gold TE37s, however I'm not sure the width of the rear rim.

Mr. B has 245/35/20 F and 275/30/19 R on his Z (while at least thats what the Import Racer Artical said).

Basically I'm pretty set on the 30 series in the rear ... but from what you guys are saying I should go with the 285/30/19 insted of the 275/30/19 to not get the streched look correct? Will I still have to roll the fenders with a 285/30/19? Also will the 285/30/19 still give me my desired goal of a not so tall side wall?
By the way thanks for everyones help so far.

The white Top Secret Z is a 9.5/10.5 with SO-3's, i'm running on the same wheel size and tires but with a 285/30 rear 245/35 front. They look great and work just as well, much better than the 275/30 IMO.
You can check the link at the bottom of my sig for a picture, but its not too clear.

Tire size in the rear and rolling of fenders depends on a few things, 1. wheel offset, 2. wheel width, 3. what type of suspension set-up you have. There is a member on one of the other 350 sites that has TE37 19x10.5 +22 and ran 285/35/19 and Tein S-Tech springs that rubbed so he switched to 285/30/19 and had no problem w/ no fender rolling.

Is it just me or do 285/35/19 look too tall in the rear?
Every time a Z comes by with 285/35/19 on the rear they look taller...
Then again, they are usually SO-3's which usually are taller then the same size of another tire make...
i unno

I would recomend a 285/35 on a 10.5" to not have that played out silly stretched look. What are your offsets if they are say +22 like some Volks then with a 285 you will need to roll your fender. Click the pic link in my sig to see pics of a 285/35 on a 10.5" wheel. I dont think it looks tall at all....
Lol M3, you dont look stretched that bad, my 275/30's (BIG mistake) look really stretched, I have 10.5 rear Racing Hart C4's, and also have Tein S-Techs....Looking at my tire and fender, I was thinking about 295/35, but that would probably be too big, and I might have to do some rolling on the fenders, I dont want to do that, so I think I might go with a 285/30 as well....unless you guys think a 295/30 should fit there with no problems??
Lets see some pics of everyones 285/30, 285/35, 295/30, 295/35 rear tire....be sure to note if you had to roll your fenders....
Alberto, your rear tires dont look to tall, but I think a 30 would look a little nicer....but if you dont have a problem, who really cares?
Lets see some pics!!!
