Default Front BBK or all 4 corners???

I have been debating for a while on purchasing a BBK kit - considering Stoptech and Wilwood. In thinking about the options I am not sure which direction to go. Should I buy a full 4 wheel kit or just the fronts? If just the fronts, what have you done to the rears? Upgrade the rotors?

I'm not the one to answer this..but I've seen this question come up before.

I think the answer became....4 if your show....2 if your go.

And the reason was that a BBK kit in the front would be enough to stop your car unless you were pushing unreal amounts of HP. So if your tracking you just NEED the front, no need for extra weight in the rear and to waste extra dough.

If your show...then you gotta do all 4 so it looks good.

But, like I said, I'm no expert, but I'm sure one will come by and give you some more info.

that is a good question... I really do not track the car however I have considered it in the future. I have a Vortech bolted on now and try to keep a clean look. with the addition of my VOLK GT-V, the decision of buying a BBK has been on my mind.

As for budget... the best bang for the buck that does not sacrafice performance has kind of been my motto. I was considering the 13" Wilwood 4 wheel BBK, but considering options.

Thanks for the reply.... in thinking about it more.... my car is primarily shown than tracked. so maybe the choice is easier, but harder to swallow the extra cash. GULP!

in most cases, all you need to stop better is having tires with better traction. A big brake kit may not stop at a shorter distance compare with the stock non-brembo braking system. But it does have more heat capacity to allow u to stop w/o brake fading, so you will not cook your brakes during multiple hard stops.
If you do end up with getting BBK, a front BBK setup will more than enough in most occasions.

keep in mind that it is more expensive to get the fronts first and then add the rears than to get all 4 at once. Also, i heard that willwood is no longer making any brakes (until the owner recovers from his illness) so you would not be able to purchase any willwood brakes from brakezone or any other vendor unless they have old stock.

I agree with both 21112 and Bubble. The front kit is really all you need unless you are tracking the car often. The front kit makes a huge difference over stock (non Brembo). The rear adds only a little braking capacity and more heat disapation. I did the front first and then the rear. Except for the looks on the rear the front is plenty for the way I drive my car. Don't get me wrong the rear looks damn good, but it is more show than go (stop in this case).

not really. It's depend on how you deal with the vendor. Typical price for Front 14" with 6 pistons nowadays around $1900 to $2000. (Stoptech or Rotora)

I got my StopTechs from Performance Nissan. They have been great to work with. I also bought the fronts first then the rears.

I thought I read one of the Performance Nissan guys saying you will get the best performance out of a 14" BBK in the front and 13" in the rear... something to that effect.

They said 14" all around will not be the best performance and is just for looks.

I don't think Stoptech would sell a kit if it was just for looks. Anyways I have the 14" rear Stoptechs and I plan to be out on the track soon, and I will let you guys know how well the OEM Porsche rear pads hold up and how I feel the braking system held up.

I would figure it all depends on the situation.

If you have a fully stock car pushin 240hp to the wheels....a 14" rear kit is just for looks as a 14" front kit will be more than enough.

However, if you have a fully built car pushin 800hp to the wheels, I'm sure that 14" rear is a must to compliment that 14" front.
