Need New Tires For My '03 350z Performance????
Whats up guys,
I need your help. All inputs will be greatly appreciated. I currently have stock potenzas on my Z, the front are 15k old and are still fine, dealer changed them because of the feathering issue. The rear on the other hand is 31k old and are almost bald. According to the tire folks they should have been changed 5k ago. So, I need new tires and I need your help. I was thinking of getting potenzas again to keep uniformity, but every websites says they are very poor tires with very poor thread wear, plus they are really expensive. Just to let you guys know, I don't race, I drive in a semi agressive manner, and I live in So Cal. I want tires that will last me a little longer but not compromising the ability of my Z. Thanks for reading and please help.
Thank you,
JA

when it comes to tires....i think i'm quite qualified to offer my opinion... cuz i've tried almost every known brands on the market today since 1984.
Michelin- very expensive, comfortable tires... buy them if money is no object.
Bridgestone Potenza- expensive.mediocreat best....again not worth the money.
Goodyears- very inconsistent in terms of quality...stay away from them.
Bf Goodrich- the new G-force ..good ride quality comparing to the older generation.worth considering.
Dunlop- similar to Goodyears..mediocre at best
Nitto- could be very harsh in ride quality..i'll stay away from.
Toyo- expensive very sticky tires.good for track.
Kumho- inconsistent quality control ...i'll stay away from them.
Fusions- good tires very affordable
Continentals sportcontacts- excellent quality tires....i got these in my 03... 255/45/17 in the rears....235/45/17 in the front. these tires balanced out almost without counter weights..the contis are reasonably priced also. i got 7k miles on mine (still like brand new) Got them from Tirerack(on special last year).
General UHP- good looking tires..these tires are easy to balance, very affordable
yokohama- good tread wear
Pirelli- not the best on the market, good looking tires though...worth a try.
Zumitomo- IMO worst tires in the world today ....they shake like "Elvis" in my 04 Focus.
Good luck.

To start, bite the bullet & get new tires all around; ya don't want to be mixing tire brands on front/back.
Here is a good starting point for looking:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...ay.jsp?type=MP
Tirerack sells about every good brand of tires except Toyos.
I ended up buying Toyo T1 Rs because they came in OEM 18' sizes.
It looks to me be like the very best tire are Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s...........but they do not come in OEM sizes.
