Unhappy TOYO T1-R Wobbly and Loose Feeling! / Break-in Period and Tire Pressure?

I just put a set of Toyo T1-R tire in 275*35/19 and 275*35/19 on my Roadster. I only drove few hundred miles but I noticed right away that the car feels wobbly and loose when changing direction!
What’s the break-in period for a new tire? How long does it take to remove that mold-release compound?
I went from the stock tires on 17” wheels to the 19” with the Toyo, so maybe the wheel is part of the issue too…
I’ve heard decent review for the Toyo T1-R on this forum and feel a little bit disappointed on the way the car feels…
What tire pressure should be applied with this rubber?
Any advices or feedback will be welcome.

Wheels are Ruff Racing 277 in 19*8.5 (+20) and 19*9.5 (+20).

I don't have experience with the T1R's but did have the T1S and they felt just like you are describing special going into turns, it was much better with the S03's, I don't know about the T1R's but the T1S sidewall was a lot softer than the S03's.

The toyo's have a softer sidewall... I miss the stiffness of the S0-3's, however I don't miss the noise and fast wear. Compromise I guess.

Yup......same thing I experienced with T1-S. You'll end up just getting used to it until you switch out the tires again....then you'll hate the Toyo's. I hate sidewall flex in the corners...

....and I thought that was going to go away after few hundred miles...at least the car is still quite confortable being on 19"...

Ive read soooo many wobbly Toyo reviews both for the T1-S and T1-R, Ill never buy a Toyo tire. Sorry your car feels loose, but thanks for the heads up.

I was in your exact same situation except i went from stock 18s to 19's

handling was crap. i was afraid to turn at high speed.

4K miles later...it's better, alot better....very good traction...however, handling is still not as good as with the stock 18s....

wow i didn't think this many people have had this wobbly problem even after a couple hundred miles. i jacked up the pressure ever so slightly and have had mine on for a few thousand. when i first got them on vs. the stock 18s they felt different b/c of the sidewall flex.

although now, since the increase in tire pressure in the front (36.5) from 35 and a little more wear...i don't seem to feel the flex.

i would not go as far as saying they HANDLE better than the stock 18s but they do FEEL different. the t1-r's def have more grip than the stock tires by far in wet and dry conditions.

next set of tires will probably be the S0-3s but that will be in a while considering i've had the t1-r's now for a good 5k miles and haven't worn off the little knubs yet

The Toyo T1-R seemed to need more break-in time than any other tire I have had. I thought they were horrible when I first put them on. Now after about 1,000 miles, I think they are a decent tire and I would recommend them for the price. I run 38 psi to help compensate for the soft sidewall.

I felt my ride is more comfortable in the TOYO 19" than my previous 18" tires, which it surprised me. But since I just got the toyo (less than 500 miles) , I ll let you guys know about the feedback later..i guess.

I've had my T1 Rs in OEM 18" sizes for about 4,000 miles now and I don't notice any difference in handling from the OEM tires. But I don't push the handling limits.

The tires really feel different, especially when changing direction. The steering feedback is not as crisp as well. However, the overall handling and grip seems to be good. I guess it just a question of adjustment. Maybe I’ll try to increase the pressure to see if that help.
What tire pressure are you guys running on the Toyo??

I run 37-38 cold all around.

For me, they are the most optimal. I started from 32.5, when they were installed, all the way up to 40. Everytime I gas up, I would inflate/deflate to where the sidewall doesn't feel like it flexes too much on cornering. I swear finding the right psi is a science.

I absolutely love my T1R's. I stuck with 17's though since I don't like the whole "make my car look like a truck" theme (no offense, it's just not for me...)

They stick great, handle amazng and no wobbling. I also had to drive the car through a rain storm for the first time this week and it stuck perfectly well even on boost.

I have the pressure at around 36 - 38 depending on the temperature outside

...because I've used them - it all depends on your suspension setup and alignment but the Toyo's like higher pressures

Now I'm worried about getting them! I am supposed to get them put on next week and I currently have the stock tires.
