Default oem rims for drifting?

I would really like to take my Z to one of the drift days at cali speed way sometime soon. I currently have the nismo wheels, but the tires for these things are expensive and I doubt I can afford to just burn through them.

I was considering buy some stock 17's off someone or some 17" g35 wheels. Are the g35 17's the same dimensions and fitment and the 350z 17's?

Is this a good idea? Ive found some places to buy used tires and 17's are readily available and cheap which is why i wanted to go with 17's. I figured some used oems would be the cheapest.

What do you guys think? Anyone else do this for drifting? I was definitely considering the g35 17's for the different look.

17's is a good idea, since tires are also cheaper. I'm selling my track wheels/tires. You can find specs of them on page 1 of my Cardomain, and pics on page 3.

...come to think of it, do you guys happen to know if they are the same weight and offset as the z's 17's? I would assume so, but you never know, car manufacturers have done crazier things. I'd like to get a 13" brake kit at some point and want to make sure they'll fit under.

For those with brembo. Can you add a spacer in the rear for the 17's to fit? Or do they fit right on?

awesome to know, and great shots. Hopefully I will see you up there as soon as I get my wheels and enough ***** to do it.

Hey how do you carry extra tires up for the Z?

Also, they have the machines to change em out and jacks and stuff right? or do you need to bring tires on wheels already?

take out the spare and put one in that spot, and one between the back of the front seats and the rear strut bar. basically the tire sits on the plastic speaker cover, unless you wanna put it in your pass. seat.

bring the tires on the wheels. the machines arent available there to mount the tires.

i bring my tools and my jack to change out my tires in the morning.

okay so I would want to drive up on my street tires... strap on the drift wheels/tires in the back prior to drifting ... go drifting... then switch em back for the drive home?

Does one set of tires last all day? I thought you needed more than that? Also, where do you store your tires and equipment while you're drifting and throughout the day?

Thanks for all the great info, you're answering all the things ive wondered about drift day!
