Feathering solved yet?
Hi folks,
I am looking into getting a 350Z either used 04 or new 05/06. My big concern is whether the tire feathering/cupping of the front tires exists with the 05 models? I have been researching a lot, and it seems that the problem was very common in 03, a little less in 04, but is it still an issue for 05 and 06? I am not going to buy if Nissan has not solved the problem yet. Tires as big and expensive as those on the 350Z have just got to last way more than the 8k-10k miles I have read about in many reviews. Do you think there is a silent majority of owners who have had no such tire wear problems in any model year? Sure would appreciate your responses! Thanks.

Get an alignment every X miles.
Rotate and flip your tires / wheels every Y miles.
Buy the focking Z already. You can fill in X and Y later. Note, there is a thread about how to "flip" staggered directional tires in this forum here:

And, please search the forums next time you are going to ask a question, it has most likely been answered.
I guarantee you will get more than 10k out of your tires if you take care of them like I suggested.

Yep. Same thing here, new allignment solved issue.
So far so good 6,500 miles later. The original problem came up around 10,000 miles, so I may have a little more to go before I notice. My replacement tires still look almost new.
