Regarding the tire feathering problem.

I got $520. I purchased Michelin Pilots and submitted a copy of the receipt.

Regarding receiving the check. How long was the turnaround from submitting the paperwork to receiving reimbursement?

For me it was about 4 weeks. I even received two calls from my NNA buddy "Fil" who let me know that I had been approved for a refund and another call to tell me the check was on it's way. I'm still waiting on the refund for my mounting and alignment. I had to resubmit that invoice due to an error in faxing.

About 4 months. Anything that you send Nissan will be “misplaced” several times. I recommend that you mail copies of all documentation, and keep the originals.

I believe that your question is “Can you replace the OEM tires with a different brand?” Yes. The reimbursement policy from Nissan does not stipulate brand.

Nissan reimbursed me for my alignment and mounting, but cut the alignment cost in half because the warranty only covered the front two wheels. It's that bogus? Does a Nissan dealership even offer front wheel alignments on a sports car like a Z? Should I be happy I got something, or should I be greedy and try to get the entire alignment cost back?

I was denied reimbursement twice because I went with a different size tire, although still a Bridgestone (not RE40, see sig).

They called me in person twice to tell me that the size difference is why they did not cover it (which is BS because the logic is that they owe me for the RE40's that got detroyed due to the bad alignement).

So if you ask me, brand of tire doesn't matter, size does.

>> >> >> >> >> but then again, we all knew that

Sorry, couldn't help the bad joke

Someone from Gardena, CA contacted me by name of Dana something and said I was approved for refund and checks were mailed Dec 8th. I am in San Diego and I have still not received them. It is around 10 business days.

Is it possible that he is lying about checks being mailed? The fact that they are sending me three different checks and the probability of losing all 3 is fairly slim.

What was the turnaround for you guys between getting the call from Consumer Affairs and actually getting the checks?

Thanks

I don't know how I can explain better. The NISSAN policy on tire replacement does NOT stipulate any particular brand of tire.

I went to the Sport Z Magazine site and got the paperwork. It is in a PDF format.

Correct. The alignment and new tire policy applies to the front only.

I had an approved payment which was given the the finance people to write a check. The finance department “misplaced” the paperwork, and I had to start from square one again. The best way to keep track of your payment is a claim number.
