Default TWO sets of TPMS sensors

Hello all, I just purchased a set of winter tires/rims from Tire Rack (just 17 inchers, nothing fancy). Since they came mounted, I didn't get to move the valve stems from the summer tires to the winter ones. If I get a second set of TPMS sensors, will the car be able to "read" both sets, or will I have to have the system re-calibrated by the dealer each time I switch??

Thanks for your thoughts!!

Re-registered is the proper term. The unique ID of each sensor must be registered to the computer to assign one to each wheel.

DavesZ#3,

So if a different set of wheels with different TPMS sensors are installed on the car, will these need to be registered? I mainly want to keep the dash light from coming on. Thanks.

Ok, thanks. Just to confirm, only one set can be registered at a time? So each summer/winter changeover would require a registration proceedure?

thx,

I bought a set of winter tires and wheels recently and have installed it. I too was worried about the display going mad but so far it has done nothing. The TPMS gauge just shows -- for both front and rear but never flashes or did anything annoying. I know the TPMS is working since it went nuts once when my summer tires were low. Just be sure to keep an eye on the pressure of the winter tires once a week and you'll be fine.
I have an '05 Touring in case that makes a difference.

Yes, the computer looks for the IDs that it knows about. If you swap the set of wheels, it doesn't know about the new set of sensors yet.

each time you swap, you will have to bring it to the dealer to re-program the sensors...
