Default feathering and camber?

i have a dumbass question...
is feathering and camber the same thing?
i've been reading some posts and i understand what negative and positive camber is but WTF is feathering?

Feathering is what actually happens to the tire itself...the tread begins to "feather" and not wear evenly. I know from experience...oh well.

Feather is what shows on the inside edge on the pictures above. See how some bumps are dark grey and some light grey? This is because the inside edge is not wearing evenly. The up/down bumps create a low rumble that you hear at 30MPH or so and keeps getting louder and louder as the tire wears.

Excesive camber can make feathering more pronounced, but the true cause of feathering is supposed to be TOE angle. Thus, later alignment revisions from Nissan reduce the Toe angle to almost 0.

so does feathering happen if my camber is too negative?

Hmmm..... I thought the true cause of feathering is caster which cannot be changed due to the design of the suspension. Nissan is trying to compensate for this by twiddling with the toe settings. But try as they might, it won't go away. They might be able to delay the re-occurance of it though with those redesigned RE040's.

No, with a camber very negative what you should get is a worn inside edge evenly all around the tire, which won't make noise, it will just eat your tires really badly. If you take care to rotate them side to side every now and then you can even out the wear and get more out of them.

The feathering is a bumpy wear. You can feel it on your hand. What I said is camber might make it worst, but camber is not the cause of it...

DayZ, I don't know about the caster thing. All I have ever heard is Toe. And the truth is with reduced Toe close to 0 my feathering has decreased quite a bit. But as I said, I think it is all a cover.
