Default VDC Problemo

I'm running BFG KDW 2 tires, 255x35x19 front and 285x35x19 rear. The front tires still looked good but the rears were bald. I had new rear tires installed. Using charts, my front tires (new) are .06 larger diameter than stock, the rears are .185 larger diameter than stock. My VDC is acting up when driving around corners now, since the new rear tires were installed. I assume it's because the rears are larger in diameter now in comparision with the front (with more miles on them). Anybody else have this problem before?

I'm not sure how you're calculating your diameters, but the chart at http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...ce+T%2FA+KDW+2 shows the front to be 26" diam and the rears to be 26.7" diam. That's a difference of 0.7 which is within the suggested stagger of 0.5" to 0.75". It may not be a size problem.

Does it happen all the time or occasionally? Does it happen during normal or aggressive driving?

It could be that the new rubber is a little slippery and that is causing it.

I never have a problem when all four tires were new and wore at the same time. It has been happening all the time when driving a little bit "spirited" around corners, since the new rear tire were installed. I drove to work today with the VDC off hoping to "burn in" the rear tires a bit. Maybe once the new rears "scuff up" a little it will go away. Or maybe the new rear tires with virgin rubber/diameter is a wee bit large in diameter compared to the somewhat worn front tires. I hope it clears up soon, or I will have to take it in to the dealer, whom will see all my tire/wheel/suspension mods and will say it's because it has been modified.

I recall reading posts here from more than one member who had similar problems with new tires (slippery). I would give it a couple weeks of "scuffing" to see if that helps before taking it to the dealer.
