Default New Wheels : ASA AR1 Black 17x8 - 56kbps Unfriendly

I wanted to keep my car as comfortable as possible since it is my daily driver and I have about a 70 mile commute (round trip) so I stuck with 17" wheels. I also really like the muscle car look of that size tire. Also, for a 17" it has a nice amount of lip.

These are ASA AR1's 17x8" front and back.

This weekend I'm going to do a modest drop (about 1/2 an inch), black out all the lights, smoke the door handles, replace the reflectors with smoked reflectors, and put on a CF-for-looks Hood (or at least I'm going to order everything to do that). I haven't decided on a body kit yet but I like a kit to be smooth and not all Akira'ed out; I like a subtle looking kit in other words.

FYI:
ASA licenses some manufacturing process from BBS but they don't license this design (which is a blatant copy of the BBS RS-GT) but for a while ASA was putting "Licenced by BBS" on these wheels which if you switched the center caps for the BBS center caps made it look a lot like your really had BBS wheels. That didn't last long of course; I'm betting someone at BBS got seriously pissed off though.

I think it looks Great. Little small, but I know what you mean on comfort. Looks really good though.

Looks good, how much do those rims weigh and what size tires are those?

The rims are 17x8 and they weigh 22.9lbs; they're cast aluminum.

I have to say my first reaction was, "Hmmm, I'm not sure I like those." The black was a little shocking and I kept wishing I had gone with 19's. But now that I've taken a second look I really like them; the wheels remind me of the Z's of the 80's (they don't look like wheels from the 80's but they seem like an homage to those wheels) and it looks like a muscle car instead of a pimp moblile (not that there is anything wrong with a pimp mobile look).

Here's a better picture of the rims in situ:

I'm really digging these now; drop will come this weekend.

Looks great with the dark tint. I was thinking of getting these rims for my SB Z, I just need to think seriously about the size. Post some more pictures when you black out the lights and smoke the handles, I'll be interested to see how that brings everything together.

No problem with TPS. Thats one of the great things about this wheel. The TPS fits perfectly so you don't lose it.

I'm using the stock tires so 225/50/17 on the front and 235/50/17 on the back.

This is roughly what the car will look like when it's blacked out.

And here it is blacked out and slammed. Note the body color door handle in this one. I think I like that better than the blacked handle. Guess I'll have to blue the Z logo on the side to see if I like that look.

Did you ever get it dropped? Could you post some more Side Profile Pics?

Too small for me but if you like them congrats on the purchase. I do love the black/lip combo on DB though Im a little confused what you mean by "muscle car look". When I think of muscle cars I think of wide tired Chevelles, Camaro's, Vettes, not an 8" rim.
