Default LE28N 19x10.5" +22 and tire sizing

I have been told that I need to roll my fenders to run 285's in the rear with the LE28N's and 285's, even at stock height. How wide can I go on a 10.5" rim before I have any issues with rubbing? Is it possible to lower the car with a wide tire like that?

I would like to lower the car 0.5", and have at least a 285mm tire.. thoughts?

Thanks

Chris

use common sense on this one. you were told 285 would rub, that probably means the size below that which is 275 will not rub. and yes, i know for a fact 275 on a 10.5" rim with a +22 offset will not rub cause that is what i am running. make sure you get bfg kdw-2's to eliminate the stretched look. toyos and falkens look horribly stretched when it comes to their 275's on a 10.5" rim. with this setup you will be able to lower your car 1+ inches without rubbing issues without having to roll your fenders.

Do you happen to know if 285's would rub with a rolled fender, when lowered?

Thanks

No rubbing issues in that situation.

Absolutely no fender mod needed in the front for that case.

Default will these rub

Volk GT-7 19 x 10.5 +24 offset 285/35/19? How about 295/30/19? My car is on stock suspension, but I plan on going with Tein Flex with EDFC soon. I am not going to drop it much, I just want a stiffer suspension.

My front wheel is 19 x 9.5 +30 offset and I am going with 255/35/19.

With rubbing issues, lowered or not, most common problems are the wrong wheel offsets. If you choose the correct offset for your car, and that's with any car, the tires should not rub.

With the whole tire size issue, depending on the tire manufacture, some tires will stretch more than others and this is due to the tire mold from the different factories. For example, 285 Falken's will stretch more than a 285 Michelin. I know you can't go and try on every single tire brand to see which brand stretch's and which do not so a good indicator is to compare the section widths of each tire brand. The section width is a measure of the tire's width from tire shoulder to shoulder, and can be found on any tire size/spec sheet on any of the manufacture's websites.

I run +22 10.5" wide rears on 285/35 BFG KDWII's. I am lowered about 1.5" with JIC coilovers, and I HAD to roll my rear fender. No rubbing at all now. Listen to Nexx above, he is right about the 275 not rubbing, but run the KDW because they seem to be wider than their competitors. Id roll the fenders just for pice of mind and do it right-do the 285. Do a search in this forum for fender rolling, I posted pics of my fenders rolled, and the tool used in a thread a few months back if you wanna check it out.

rub rub rub, either tire you'll rub, not all the time but enough to annoy the crap out of you. I drilled Chris @ F1 motorsports about this before I bought my GT7's from him. Front will have no problems.

Thanks! I am dealing with Chris as well. I am going to go with the 285's and if I have to roll the fender I'll do that. If I end up rolling the fenders when I get new tires I will get the 295's in the back. I need bigger tires for traction!

That's what I am going with for the front and it won't rub. 19 x 9.5 +30 offset 255/35/19 tire.

I have that set-up. Im lowered pretty good, and on very fast cornering I rub slightly, or when driving over an incline while turning. Other than that no rub, you'll be fine.

This is for the G35 coupe,

Alberto, do you rub on the inside or outside? I'm assuming that you have 19x9.5" +22 on the front? I have 19x9.5" +19, so I'm wondering if it will rub if I go with the BFG's in 255/35.

Do you have a picture of your KDW-2's on your 10.5" wheel? My Toyo's are 275/35/19 on the rear, and they're stretched. I'm thinking my next set will remain a 275 for the rear, but stepping up to the BFG should make it look less stretched. Thoughts?
