WOW am I glad I read this thread. I was planning on ordering some Volks but I think I will hold off and see how this goes! If I was having this problem and nobody wanted to help me from the distributor to the dealer I think I would be making a big stink on the net here and everywhere. If their sales start dropping on the Volks maybe someone will wake up and try to solve the problem.

I noticed another one of my wheels has a discolored lip.
Soon, all of my wheels will match!

Hey guys, just a word of advice.

Please contact your dealer/distributor about any issues relating to manufacturing problems on your wheels. It's imperative to start and keep a document trail to file a claim. Keep all emails sent and received in addition to who and when you talk to on telephone conversations.

I makes it A LOT easier down the road if this keeps getting dragged on.

You are not supposed to colored wax the lips on VOLKS. Even the soap drying in the sun on the wheels will cause discoloration.

Use a semi-abrasive polish like Zymol or try that stuff they used to sell on TV... GS27 Scratch Remover. Use a little at a time and polish away with a cloth baby diaper. Do not use towels.

dont use metal polish on the wheels or you'll strip whatever is left of the clear coat

i would use a very high quality light abbrassive like Menzerna Final Polish on a high thread count microfibre pad. It will still remove some clear coat, but is nowhere near as harsh as metal polish

i wouldnt use any of the meguairs products, they all contain cheap fillers which will do nothing for the wheel

even the Poorboys Pro Polish (WITHOUT carnauba) will work better

Shiznit, i used maguirs quick detailer on my volks, no problem yet, but I better stick with soap and water from now on. However, I did read somewhere here that Meguiars quick detailer is safe! Whatever the case maybe, I better start being more careful! Definitely keep records of all your conversations, your best bet would be to correspond via emails, that way it is indisputable what they said!

*update*
I just talked to Chris from F1, he told he had a BRAND NEW wheel with discoloration on the lip. The tire was mounted and was ready to be shipped out. Good thing he noticed. He sent the wheel(s) back to Mackin for inspection. Chris told me not to send my defective wheels back, instead hold on and see what they will do about this problem.
