Anyone knows how to disable ABS on a BASE model?
Hi, I am trying to disable the ABS system on my 03 base model for track and drift days, i have noticed that the ABS kicks in way too early and that really makes it impossible to do a brake drift or even trail braking into the corner. However, when i opened the fuse box in the engine bay, I see the ABS fuse is connected to 2 other fuses which are the ignition and somthing else, so if i pull out the whole thing, the ignition will also malfunction. Does anyone know how to disable the ABS system without disabling the ignition? Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks

you need LSD to drift properly - put down all the power...
ABS fuse is connected with VDC/TCS, i dont think its connected with ignition...
or thats how it is in my fuse box... dont know much about stock base boxes...

He wouldn't pass tech inspection anyways.

base model anyone?
Thanks for all the info guys! I am just wondering how many of you have the base model? It seems to me that most of you guys are talking about disabling the VDC/TCS together with the ABS, however, we dont have any of that on the base model, all we have is the ABS and EBD. Thank u tonywenzel for showing the diagram, So for the base model, the only option is to disconnect the connector in blue as shown in the diagram? Is that it? does it affect other things if I take that out? I am not very familiar with the whole wiring diagram, I need somebody to shed some lights on me. Thanks

any other ways than pulling the brake light fuse?
I agree with Kolia that pulling the brake light fuse is not the smartest thing to do especially at the track, is there any other possible ways?? I drifted my car many times in the rain and all I can do is powersliding or using the e-brake, it is impossible for me to do a brake drift, the abs just slows down everything before the car gets going sideways.
P.S. I have the Nismo LSD on my Base model, its the best upgrade i have had so far, very predictable and easy to control, downside is its loud and chattery characteristic, even with suggested fluids from other Z members*

will the check engine light go on?
I am wondering once i pulled it off, will the check engine light go on? Will I have to bring it to the dealership to reset the code? That is one of my biggest concerns about this mod. If anyone knows this, please lemme know, I will greatly appreciate your help!

To get rid of a CEL yourself you can use technosquare's method for resetting the ECU, disconnect your battery, or (Since you have an 03) you can get the Cipher diagnostic tool. AAM carries them, here's a quote from their site:

The diagnostic system within Cipher allows you to quickly and easily find trouble codes when a “Malfunction Indicator Lamp” (MIL), “Check Engine Light” (CEL), or “Service Engine Soon” (SES) warning is tripped. This capability goes far beyond basic misfire or O2 Sensor codes. You will be able to read and clear codes from the ABS system, the traction control system, any safety restraint systems, and other control modules. These features by themselves make Cipher invaluable to any Nissan enthusiast.
