Default 8.5 & 9.5 or 9.5 & 10.5???

Hey guys, im going to be buying rims shortly Im looking at Black volk GT-7s. My question is regarding rim sizes. Iv called around and got prices form a couple of different places. Allot of places don’t have the Gt-7s in black and 10.5s. I can get them at the price I want but they will be 8.5 and 9.5. I know people run both, but I have heard that the 8.5 &9.5 don’t fill the fender right. Is this at all true when it comes to these rims? Any feedback or pictures are extremely appreciated.

i think 9 to 9.5 and and 10 to 10.5 are the more standard rim widths for the Z. 8.5 and 9.5 with the wrong offsets will be farther in the fender so it could look weird. A reputable rim/tire dealer should contact volk for you and get you the correct size for that rim. Now if it's a price issue and you can only afford the smaller width rims, you can probably fix it with spacers.

it's not that much more for the sets in 9.5/10.5, if you are looking for 10.5 GT7 in black good luck they are on backorder right now...

The issue isn’t completely price, there is like a 400 dollar difference though. Like you said they are on back order right now and I need tires very soon, I don’t feel like spending 800 dollars on new tires that im only going to use for a short time. So it is possible to make it look right with spacers? I guess Ill have to make up my mind soon...Or just go with the RH J8s thanks for the replies.

If you wanna run 8.5/9.5 and still fill out the fenders you need a low offset. Go with something like +20 or lower and it will look good.

most important is proper offset

8.5 - 9.5 front, 9.5 - 10.5 rear will all work out well with proper offsets

I'd go with 8.5 & 9.5.

1) the wheels are much cheaper in price.
2) the tires will be much cheaper.
3) 9.5 on the rear is still very wide. I just got my 275 Kumho's in & the are very wide.

With the right offsets you'll bring the wheel to the edge.

Good luck with your choice.

Your best bet is to figure out what tire sizes you want and how you want them to look on the rim (bulged, squared or stretched). Then pick a rim size that will make them look the way you want and has a proper offset that pushes them out to fill the fender correctly.

The only difference your gonna see from a 9.5-10.5 is rim weight and maybe lip but 9.5" rims offer very deep lips as well. You can fit a 285 on a 9.5 and it looks flush. Thats about the widest "most" people run. Some put 295s but unless you have the power it wont matter. Like someone said 9.5"s dont look funny and you don't need a spacer. Here's pix of 8.5" front and 9.5 rears, looks fine.

My bet for a mix of perfomance and bling is to go with 8.5 front and 10.5 rears. Again with the right offset, you can make anything work.

Also, with a 8.5 front, you may save some money and still have that "damn, thats a huge lip!!" effect with the size of the rears. Or better, yet do 18s in the front and 19s in the rear.

So many options, and so little money to test them with....

Good Luck!

I wouldn't recommend more than 1" stagger between the fronts and rears unless you want some serious understeer. Going with 8.5 and 10.5 wouldn't be optimal for all around performance. Maybe if you drag alot.

Unless you have some serious hp 10.5 rears are only gonna cost you more money to replace (which is about 10-15K for most of us). Also consider the extra weight. Your 8.5/9.5 will always be lighter than 9.5/10.5 rims. Unless you plan to show your car or really want the extra bling I would recommend8.5/9.5.

On my previous Z I had 9.5 rim with 24 offset in the rear with 275 and it looked good.
On my new Z I have 10.5 with 26 offset in the rear with 295.
Personally I like the look of the 10.5 with 295 tire a lot more.
