Default flat tire :(

i bought my car brand new and within a week, i already got a flat tire. never thought in a million years it would happen to me that fast. unfortunately, the dealership cannot cover my tires unless i had my first oil change with them. kinda sucks. i had to spend around $600 for some new bridgestone potenzas for the 2 rear's. the tires on my car are michelin pilot sports. the firestone shop told me that they are normally bridgestones on them? do u guys have bridgestone stock tires on yours?

nissan would replace the front bridgestones if you got tire feathering issues.

I don't think he has a tire feathering issue, I think he's got a tire flattering issue.

Why do you have to replace the entire tire, I thought you only had a flat?

they are runflats and the tire was compromised. i couldnt change my tire where i was and i had to drive 1/8th of a mile back to my place so i could change it. the tires are potenza RE040's that i just ordered.

it is in your best interest to swap out the tires in sets unless u are changing it with the same tire. i cant get afford to get a new michelin tire so i used my firestone card to pick up new potenza's.

I don't understand this. How did you not have Potenza's stock on the vehicle? Did you change them out immediately on delivery? Did Nissan change their OEM tire selection? Also, I don't understand what you getting your oil changed has anything to do with anything, I took my Z in the first week I had it to get the alignment checked by my local dealership(not the dealership I bought from) prior to getting any regular maintenance, ie. oil changed. How did the tire become flattened?

they told me that once i get my oil change done with them, my tires and such start to get covered. most likely it is so i have a history of maintenance from them so they can start it up. i forgot how they worded it. i will ask them next time i come through. the firestone dealership doesnt understand why i have michelins on my car. i might have to ask how they got on the car.

ok the tires are not run flats. my nissan shop is gonna try to cut me a deal on a new pilot sport tire if possible. so far, its gonna run me around $300 so they are gonna try to get it for me on discount. the price is inclusive of installation and tax. they go for around $250-260 for the tire.

Something is still not adding up here. For one the Bridgestone Potenza's come stock on all Z's, if yours did not come with it then whoever had the car before you had them changed out(providing you bought used). Don't try buy new tires through the Nissan dealership. Call around, I'm sure you can find a better deal somewhere. Secondly, it seems like the dealership is trying to rip you off. Warranty not starting until you get an oil change sounds like complete bull#@!$. You need to talk to someone about that.

EDIT: Just noticed you did say you bought it new. Yeah, the dealer is not telling you everything.

the car is brand new, unowned. the nissan dealership told me all GT roadsters come with michelin pilot sports.

my base warranty is in full effect. the roadside assistance warranty kicks in when i do my oil change. i just found that out. i just ordered a single pilot sport replacement tire and i will get it on monday.

Would be a welcome change to have standard the pilot sports on the Z. The potenza's (no potential at all) suck...

Thats crap you make them pay for your tire. Be rude, aggressive and persistant. They will want to make you stop and pay for your tires.

maybe you want to call Nissan NA to confirm that the tires on the GT are indeed michelin pilots.
I thought all models come with potenzas.
Maybe the dealer is giving you BS?

The tire was a week old and you got a flat. The flat could not be repaired. Why did you buy 2 tires? Why not one?

Why don't you just get an oil change? Wouldn't that save you a lot of money? If everything in previous threads add up. I'm still lost all the same. Something doesn't just add up.
