Do Not Give Work Wheels Your Business!!
So when I went to West End Alignment where Darin adjusted my alignment (awesomest alignment place), Darin pointed out that my rear rim had a clean cut crack straight through one of my spokes. While inspecting the wheel there is NO SIGN of shock/impact i.e. bent rims/curbing or anything!!! Also the crack is at a spot that would only crack do to twisting of the spoke, and we all know hondas have so much torque in stock form!!
So I called Works USA to see if they are able to help me out with this situation as it is quite obvious it is a manufactore defect. The first time I called they said since I bought them from my friend I need to prove that they were purchased from an authorized dealer with a recipt etc etc. and that even though warranty is over they would be able to set up a deal for me for a replacement. So a day later I found the recipt, called again and now they are just giving me the finger basically saying your wheel is out of warranty and that "you're on your own". WTF!! I also pointed out what if I were to die and it was proven it was because of the faulty rim, he gave me the BS that Works has a disclaimer WTF!!! this is the WORST service I have ever recieved from a name brand company. apparently WORK WHEELS doesnt care about customer satisfaction, they're only in the business to sale deffective wheels and not care if you die.
WHEEL LOOKING PERFECT/NEW/MINT
CRACK! b/c my oh so powerfull s2000 has enough torque to put a crack in the spoke!

The crack is scary.
I can understand an inexpensive wheel such as ASA not having a warranty. But Work is not cheap. If they gave you one free wheel, I’m sure that you would be happy, and consider buying from them again. Looks like Work lost you as a customer forever. Poor decision on their part.

How old are the rims, did this happen in a course of a couple months or a year? What was the time frame from when your Friend purchased them to when you noticed the crack?

I'm not sure warranties are transferable and with the glut of gray market retailers I can kind of see how Work USA would be leary. Besides that, warranty claims are usually handled through the retailer that sold the set.
Sucks to hear about that though. Hope everything works out.

Why are you running a +43 offset on a Z?

On one hand, yes, it would be nice to get a free replacement wheel. That would be great customer service.
On the other hand, why should Work have to replace a wheel just because it's cracked? For all we know these wheels are 5 years old and have hit more potholes than the local MTA. Maybe it wasn't a manufacturing defect if you think about it. Abuse or even NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS can cause problems too.
I get the feeling you're not telling us the whole story, which may be one reason why Work decided to raise the BS Flag and deny any warranty.
Since you bought them used, I'd be surprised if they DID have some sort of warranty.
All in all, you probably won't see any free wheels unless you get a lawyer. Depends on whether it's worth it for you to hire a lawyer to win a ~$600 law suit.

hrm, truth be told, that is terrible they way they handled it (as you describe it from your perspective) and I too would be mad, but darnit, they certainly got me satisfied as a customer when i see those meisters in my garage... haha i would still be happy to buy their wheels regardless

I have a set of Work RS BEtas that are prob over 12 years old with too many miles on them. Held up nicely over all these years. Looks like they subcontracted Axis to make the CR's. J/K. Sorry to see that happen to you. Id hate to feel ripped off like that.

i work in retail....there are a few times people have come in for warranty on their product after the warranty has expired.
instead of just telling them "too bad your warranty has expired" even though we legally can.
we just sell them a new product at cost. we break even and the customer is happy.
i actually got a fat referral from one of these customers

Who did you deal with on the US side? Also, I have never heard of any work wheels cracking like that. How old are these wheels and how were these wheels used? Did your friend EVER hit anything really bad with them?

dude, this is really not cool how you posted this and to say you want to take business from them is retarded.
1) you bought the wheels USED. you did not just buy them from Work and find a crack fresh out of the box.
2) they were made in 2004... that makes them what? two years old? your ricer freind with his S2000 or whatever probably hit a pothole and I'm guessing he has a rock hard suspension, lowered, etc. giving the wheel no leway and forcing it to absorb the shock....
3) why would they say that they woudl help you out, to turn around the next day and "give you the finger" what are you forgetting to tell?
don't post up some misleading BS and scare people. you know of any other Work's cracking? I sure don't. clean up your story and don't forget to omit things. talk to the vendor your freind bought them from... or did he buy them used as well?

To many variables, but it would've been nice for WORK to offer a wheel at cost or something.
Often, it all depends on how you approach people and explain your situation and what you would like in return.
