Default Cage / Chassis Work (so far)

I can't remember if I mentioned that I'm partially caging the car but here goes: ProCar Performance in Greece NY is doing an 8pt cage with a main hoop tied in up front via a single door bar (not doing a full road-course cage with tie-ins under the dash or down the A Pillars), an X to the rear shock towers from the hoop as well as two supports back to the frame rail / trunk floor area. We might actually add two more pipes after seeing it going from the hoop down to the front face of the shock towers (hard to explain), and I'm looking to relocate the battery out back so we should be able to fab a mount/box for that while we're at it ...

I went up to ProCar today to approve the work so far (before welding in the plates / tubes) and am VERY happy to report the progress and that they do GREAT work. We removed ALL of the extra rear metal behind the seats (above where the G35 / FX seats would be) and are replacing the rear shock tower with plates and a tube and tying the chassis together for safety / stiffness. I gotta say, working with Patrick, Gary and Randy has been excellent so far!!

Actually, I was supposed to get my cage work started a few weeks ago but things came up and I have to postpone it for about a month. Chromoly, but not 100% on the full layout yet

If you are going for looks than it will look mean. Yet, if you plan to race that car that will not meet the specs of SCCA or NASA or NHRA. Just an FYi, but over all looking good.

I could give 2 ****s about NHRA - but I know it's not NASA spec, there's no halo and only a single door bar, no dash bar - its NOT for looks, that's for sure, I plan on DEing the car, no club racing at all for me (for years at least). I wanted some extra chassis stiffness, extra roll-over protection and to un-clutter the inside (I love the way the GT3 RS comes from the factory with a cage / no back seats, etc). Those rear "pods" over where the G35 seats go are useless / extra mass IMHO and needed to go.
