Default Toyos T1R Vs. BFGoodrich GForce KDW 2

Which do you think is better and why? Plus, how many miles are these tires good for?

i prefer Toyo's smoother cushier ride quality.
KDW is excellent dry traction tires.

I've never tried the BFGoodrich's, but I do have the Toyo T1R's. It's been over 10K miles and there are no signs of feathering at all on the front.

Great tires.

If you are going to get the BFG and want ultimate dry traction, go for the KD, not the KDW. KDW have a larger void percentage on the tread to help with wet traction.

I run both of those tires right now. KDW is better in the dry AND wet. Quite a bit louder than the Toyos though...and a bit more expensive

consumer reports were for the first version of the kdw, the kdw-2's are much improved. from what ive read the soft sidewall on the toyos suck.

Was thinking the same thing. (Huh, a dry tire vs a all-season )

I had the T1-r's on my previous 300zx TT and they were a great tire. I have the KDW-2 on the 350 and i like them better they run a bit wider than the t1-rs also. My M3 runs on Eagle F1's and they are just as good as the KDW's.

Thanks. TireRack surveys are interesting because they cover such a wide variety of vehicle owners.

The T1R are a lot quieter ride than the KDW2, but the they sidewalls flex a LOT more in hard cornering. I switched from the KDW last week since my new rims came with the Toyos, and taking the S curve I hit everyday at 50-55 with the KDW's (rock solid) was very loose at the same speed with the T1's.

KDW-2's have a nice, stiff sidewall. They look bigger as a result though. I like 'em so far. Couple of auto-x's and a track day and they've held up quite well.
