Default will running 18x8.5 all around affect VDC

will running 18 inch rims with 8.5 all around with
245/40/18 tires affect my VDC system? thansk again

Yes it will. If there isn't a difference in wheel height between the front and back, the wheels won't rotate at different rates. If the computer doesn't see that difference, it will assume slippage causing TCS/VDC to kick in.

o thats no good! well do you think i could run the proper tire on those rims? so like a 265 45 x 18?

The rim width doesn't make any difference. You could still run the stock sizes of 225/45 & 245/45 or the usual upsize of 245/40 & 275/40. The 225's on the front may be a little stretched.

ok so if i were to buy these rims i could just buy two new tires that would maintain the same staggered setup. so use the 245's for the front and then buy some 275 for the rears thanks again

so basically the car does not know the difference between 17, 18, or 19" rims as long as you keep the height the same front and rear?

Correct. VDC does not recognize wheel size. It does recognize tire circumference. We usually talk in terms of tire height because circumference is too cumbersome.

Thanks for the reply! In the case of snows. Can the height circumfrence be the same, or does the computer need to see that the rear is slightly larger.

Any kind of tires: the rear tires should be about 10mm taller than the front.
