Default Got 18X9.5 and 18X8.5 wheels on order!! tires?'s..

I don't like big sidewalls and I plan to autocross, would you guys suggest 30 or 40 series??

At 1st I was thinking 275/40/18 rear and 245/40/18 for fronts...
Ater seeing pics those tires seem really big, thinking about going 30 series or narrower tire if possible??...

Any input?? Pics? 30 vs 40 series? Pros / cons

Thanks!

Thats the standard...

you could do 245/35/ 275/35 ... hat would give you a little less sidewall, less tire weight, better accleration as if you changed final drive gears...

35 series would be ideal. maybe try a 285/35/18 rear and 255/35/18 front

For less sidewall, go with the 35. A 30 series may not work.

Jason,
As the overall diameter is less, would this make VDC unhappy?
Or is it the ratio front:back that is measured?

as long as the tire diameters are relitive to eachother its fine...

example...

265/35/18 & 295/35/18
245/40/18 & 275/40/18
245/35/18 & 275/35/18
275/35/18 & 305/35/18

etc etc

245/40/18 & 275/35/18 MAY have VDC issues depending on the car model...

about to try it next week so I'll post the results. I don't have VDC, but i figure TCS should still not want to cooperate if there is an issue

I think it looks funny with the rear wheel smaller....

There is a way to re-calibrate the TCS / VDC System...

I havent done it in a while...

but its something like...

turn the key into the ON position (not engine started...)

Roll the car backwards about 6 feet, roll the car forwards about 6 feet...

and that is suposed to re-calibrate the system...

it may or may not....I've got nothing else to do but try though.

I've come to realize over the years there is no "standard' in tires - some look HUGE on the car height wise, some look huge width wise, but the only way to know how it will look and behave is to try
