Lightbulb help w/ Stained Rays Forged Wheels

I did a search and I found that its preferable to have pix of the stain to help. When I washed my z at first I used BLack Magic scrubless wheel cleaner spray. It took off dirt and grime just fine however the stains still remained. After than I used some BlueMagic polish cream on the stains and still no luck. The stains were there BEFORE I used any cleaners and I made sure the products I used were mag wheel safe. Does anyone know what causes these stains? It looks like spilled break fluid embbeded into the wheels finish. Its on all 4 wheels. Thanks.

Try one of those Mr. Clean sponges. That typically works for me. My wife says that they clean most everything.

the stain is probably embedded in the clearcoat of the wheels. my mechanic told me that if u dont wash the breakdust and stuff off like that for long periods of time it will stain the clearcoat. dont know how to get um off though

There was another message here about 6 moinths ago with the same stains. His car was brand new, and the wheels came like that from the dealer.

Hey - I have the same exact thing!!! I was wondering myself how to get that off. I'm going to try the Mr Clean sponge myself and see how it works. Anyone else know how to get this off?!?!?

same here. The dealer person told me not to worry about it because it washes right off. Are you sure the mr clean thing is mag wheel safe? these are mag wheels btw right?

If nothing chemically takes it out, you could try a fine rubbing compound since it is clear coat over paint. I'd think this would work as it would on the body paint.

Thechnically they are not "mag" wheels. Mag wheels is an abreviation for Magnesium. These wheels are aluminum alloy with a clearcoat over paint finish.

The term "mag" is used very loosely and is a carry over from the 70's.

I have used them on all my wheels on my cars without a problem. I also use them on my exhaust tips and they take off the black deposits without scratching the chrome.

Back when I had an 04 model...it had the exact same issues and im pretty sure it was the brake pad compound that screws up the rims. It leaves a nasty stain that you could look at and think it would be removable...but it is not whatsoever. There are a couple of people that had posted about this over the last 2-3 years. It seems as though only certain vehicles are plagued with this bc I now have an 06, just as you do, and I wash my wheels the exact same way and not one problem has arisen. It really sucks because you have the nice rims also. My advice is too change your brake pads and get the wheels redone bc this isn't something that you can prove to the dealer...

I wished I took some pictures, but I just tested some wheel cleaner to make sure before I used the Mr. Clean sponge. I first tried to clean my wheels with the Meguiars wheel cleaner and couldn't get all the stains off. But after using a wet Mr. Clean sponge and a little elbow grease all the streaks and stains came off. I'm pretty sure this will work on your wheels and at minimal cost.

no luck at all. I tried the mr clean sponge, a clearcoat safe bug/tar/grime remover, some more wheel sparys. This is so stupid! Why isnt there like a recall or wutever you call those things to get this fixed? It should be covered under the factory bumper 2 bumper warranty right? Do you think i'd have a case if I took it back to the dealer? How much would it cost to have rims refinished?

Wow, the sponge has gotten even some of the worst stuff stuck on my wheels and exhaust. I'm really sorry that didn't work for you.
