Default Can't believe this happened

Need help!!

The tire shop change the tire on one of my VOLKS SF-CHALLENGE wheels and the popped out the center cap. The O-Ring that was holding it is now cut and they weren't able to put the cap back on the wheel.. So I'm now stuck trying to figure out what to do.

Do I just need to find the O-Ring and put it back on, then simply put the cap back on? Do you guys have any instructions for putting the cap on? Do you have the dimensions for this thing? (2.5")??

Thanks

Take cap to Home Depot or Lowes and find a O-ring that fits.

Cap needs to be hammered back on, preferrable with a rubber mallet.

Tried both, also ACE hardware and a couple of other autospecific stores. None of them had the O-rings my size. I got one that was smaller diameter, but fatter, and tried but could not get it to set after using the rubber mallet. I'll keep looking.

I put this on the main page since I figured it'll get much more traffic since this sounds like a rare thing to find.

Thanks

No reason to make two threads for the same topic and you already asked this in the Volk thread as well

It's a rubber seal, keep looking for it or contact a vendor who sells Volks

Found the solution. Ended up getting the following two O-rings from NAPA auto parts.

One is a 2" thicker ring that goes on the first (internal) groove, and the other is a 2 1/4" thiner o-ring that goes on the most outer groove on the center cap.

They cost about a dollar each.

Here are the NAPA's part numbers:
727 2034
727 2226

Hope this'll help other Volks SF Challenge wheel owners in case their O-Rings gives out.

The other more expensive alternative is buying the actual cap individually or as a group from the following sites, but it'll take weeks to months to come from Japan..

A little late but I have some old center caps that I think still have those rings. I would have given them to you

As for reinstalling them, I wouldn't use a hammer or rubber mallet. I just put a little bit of Vaseline on the rings and was able to pop them in to place using some force with my hands. If you must use anything to hit them in, wrap some cloth around them so they don't get banged up.

Options
1) Mount them on my wall
2) Sell them
3) Find someone to fabricate a centerlock kit and put them on my G35 coupe

Not sure yet haha

Saw those Centerlocks on Zilvia last night. Congrats on the pick up, those look sweet!
Does it take a lot of fab work for a Centerlock setup? I say run these on your car, they would look sick!

Apparently Forgeline only sells kits to work for their wheels. Probably a liability thing. I will probably send a wheel to a buddy in the states and have him pick the brains of a few people to figure out a way to mount them.

Unrelated question.

Has anyone been able to use the stock TPMS on their VOLK wheels? Since I no longer have my stock TPMS, I have to buy one, but is there some Volk item I need to also get to fix the TMPS in place?

Thanks

That's honestly upsetting. CE's are one of the sickest volk wheels. I guess I'm never giving mine up now.

Are they the actual lightest or just one of the lightest?

One of the lightest. Lighter than TEs at least.
