questions on volk wheel set-ups
I see that most people are running the 19x9.5 / 19x10.5 versus the 19x8.5 / 19x9.5 setup.
1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of running wider wheels?
2. Is there much of a weight difference between the two set-ups?
3.Would you recommed getting a BBK to run 19's?
4. Are people having any brake issues with running 19's on the Z? (I owned a Galant before and went from stock 16's to 18's and had nothing but problems with my brakes. The rims were much too heavy and kept warping my rotors after 3000 miles. Although the brakes on the Galant did SUCK!)
5. I guess there are 3 different kinds of "disks" for Volks. Type A,B, and C. But it seems the 19's only come in type A and B. What type of disk should i run for my 06z with stock brakes? I read that type A are for brembo brakes and B are for other aftermarket BBK's but doesnt mention anything about stock brakes.
thanks

1 . Advantages: Allows wider tires = more traction. Generally look better too with deeper lips. Disadvantages. Heavier and more expensive.
2. Probably 1-2lbs per wheel for each inch wider.
3. No need.
4. Nope
5. Get the one that clears most BBK's so you have the option to make that upgrade in the future if you choose to.

I have absolutely no complaints with the stock non-Brembo brakes. It literally saved my life twice. I'm getting HPS brake pads soon despite having roughly 50% left on my pads. I want new pads to go along with my new fatter tires :-)
BTW, if performance is priority #1 then do not opt for wheels larger than 18".

The main reason for running 9.5/10.5 is for lip size and if you are planning on running wider tires... Yes wider also mean heavier wheels. As for Brake problem, I don't think anyone have any problem after putting 19" wheels on their car. Just make sure you run the correct tires size..
