.295 is the width, but that's not the problem here. Take a look at this - required reading for anyone buying tires.

Sounds like you're picking your tire sizes like your picking lotery numbers ! Lol
If the cryptic tire size equations don't stick, most manufacturer will give the tire overal diameter along with the tire spec. Aim for ~26.7 inches.
