Default Widest tires on track rim

I've searched and couldn't find an exact answer.

Can anybody tell me whats the widest I can go on the track model rims? I'm currently running the stock specs of 225-45-18F and 245-45-18R.

Or if I'm just blind and this topic has been covered please redirect me to that thread, thank you.

For safety I recommend OEM width plus 20mm.

Tracks are 8" wide in front and 8.5" wide in the rear (2003-2005). You can run a 245/40/18 in the front and a 265/40/18 in the rear.

I know people running 275's on them. 285's should fit but might look funny.

You don't want to do this. See page attached:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...e1=yes&place=3

Both the 265 and 275 are recommended for a 9" minimum rim width. The 265 is .02" less in cross section, and whould work just fine on an 8.5" wheel. Anything above that is pushing it. You'll have tire bulge, something that is not safe or attractive. Yep, some folks do it, but it's really not safe and a tire shop that would install such a combo is not reptubale. You would also lose any support from the tire manufacture since you're not following his recommendations.

I wouldn't call it "not safe". They add those "safe" widths to the chart with a good degree of play to avoid any liablity if something does happen. I agree that its more than you would normally want to do but its definitely possible. People run oversize tires all the time and I've never heard of them rolling off the bead. I personally wouldn't go over a 275.

I'm thinking about doing these widths with PS2's... is this going to look goofy?

I'm just saying its an overside tire but should fit. I'm not going to endorse it by any means because as stated its outside of most tire specs.
