When talking with some of the motor sports engineers at Kumho, they were on the same way of thinking and actually gave me percentages that I had forgotten exactly, but they compared a 265 and a 275 contact patch increase versus the decrease in sidewall stiffness and actually recommended the 265.
-Also the stretched sidewall allows for a better taper to clear the inner fender well for less of a chance of rubbing.
Other examples that I have found in the 2 racing series are:
NISMO R1 with 10.5 rear and 265/35/18.
Autech Tsukada with 9.5 +15 and 9.5 +15 with 225/40/17.
Power House Amuser with 10.5 +22 and +18 with 265/35/18
Yashio Factory with 10 +15 all around with 265/35/18
Sunline racing with x10.5 +16 all around with 265/35/18
There are many more and these teams are posting very fast times.

Most guys who drag race dont normally understand these concepts of HPDE and RoadRacing. And besides, The G35/350Z were built for the circuit..not so much for the strip.

Old thread I know, but Im looking at maybe running 265/30/19 all around and am worried about VDC issues... You said you only had an issue once - any updated experience? Thats the only thing Im worried about

yes that will give you major vdc issues, as well as look rediculous

No issues with VDC still and I drive the car HARD with the VDC on when going into unfamiliar turns/conditions. I have ONLY ever noticed a small difference in VDC was when the rear tires were smaller diameter that the fronts and the effects were that the ABS was a hair sensitive.
Nobody has ever given me an example of when VDC flips out to a point that it would effect daily driving.

Another note on extreme offset/stretched tires:
I recently swapped my spare set of wheels of MB Motoring Weapons:
17x9 +17 255/40/17
17x9 +17 275/40/17
The tires were brand new Kumho MX. After the break-in time and no other adjustments ... The front end is much less responsive than it was on the fairly worn RT-615's. In fact on the one of the fastest turns on my trip home only could hang at around 65mph where before was topping 78-80mph. Given that the 2 tires are in a similar category of performance tires I can only attribute the biggest factor as being in the offset/tire stretch.

I am not yet as confident with the Z on unfamiliar roads/wet conditions as I would like to be, so I tend to drive with VDC on most of the time. Of course there is the exception of the days where I throw the car onto a wet "skidpad" and depending on my mood, I have fun with VDC off or I also like to analyze how intelligent VDC is at correcting my intentional slides.

it will always work though, you can always run more camber until it works
