Default Info From You Guys running 19's

I an gathering ideas and info for where i'm trying to go with my car. I am torn between the idea of 18 x 8.5 & 18 x 9.5 or 19 x 8.5 & 19 x 9.5's. My concern is the poor handling and performance of the 19's. I am worried the handling goes so far south that it is not fun to drive like it is on the 18's, as well as ride quality. Obviously the 19's look better, and that is why i'm asking you. I'm not ready to write off the idea of running 19's just on rumors, need some real time input. Thanks!

You won't notice it since you're not taking it to Super Monaco.

Half the board has 19's. No performance drop for everyday use whatsoever. Unless you are gonna track it in competition, who cares?!

19's & lowered....No problems at all. They look great and the performance and handling are still good. I originally was going to purchase the Do-luck double sixes in 18's, but after seeing them on a Z, they just looked too small. Just my .02

No one cares about performance or handling. Its all about How does this look? and How does this sound? 19-inch wheels are cool. Go for it.

If you go with lightweight wheels, then there's really no performance hit going to 19's, it will almost be a wash. My 19" Volks and tires each run 6 to 10lbs lighter than the stock 18" wheels and tires.

I just put 19" Volks on my 05 touring and lowered it about 1.5". I rolled the rear fenders. I couldn't feel any change in performance and it dose not rub. The only "Con" I can think of is - if I don't go REALLY slow over some speed bumps something under the car rubs (I think it's the exhaust). The best part- It looks bad a**. Glad I did it. Do it you'll be glad you did.

The only thing I'm worried about with going 19's is running such a low profile tire and accidentally hitting a pot hole. Living where I do there is a high chance of this happening....It's a very tough choice for me...18's or 19's?? damn this.

na man you wont have any problem with 19's. my 19 inch volks have been through many rough roads and pot holes and the tires hold up just fine.

a lot of people prefer 19 x 8.5 and 19 x 9.5 instead of 19 x 9.5 and 19 x 10.5 because of weight and other differences. i personally see no point in having a huge 4 inch lip other than for looks.

either way, the Z is a car with *****. if your car is going to have problems rolling with 19's then your car has no *****.

I saw a Z parked in a P-lot the other day with the RT rear rim bent to sh**. It looked like he hit one hell of a pot hole or he was hauling a**. I'm just going to be carefull and hope for the best.

Ever think of doing 19s in the back and 18s in the front? I believe the new Zs are coming out this way and I always thought if the the front tires look like the correct size, the rears look a little small. Or vice versa, if the backs look the correct size, the fronts look too big. Any drawbacks to having 19's in back, 18s in the front?

not really... besides the fact that i feel american cars look better with a setup like that. like the corvette, or hot rods.

then again, it is different on the Z
