Default New front brakes locking

I just had my OEM brake pads replaced, as well as the front rotors. Since then, my brakes have been acting strangely. Before you say it, I don't think this is air in the lines, I know what that feels like. The throw on the brake pedal is now shorter than it used to be, and the brakes seem weaker. The odd thing is if I really step on it, it goes from the weak stopping power to locking up very fast and the ABS seems like it's catching up after half a second of front-wheel slide. It's like the brake force distribution is not working well and goes from not enough to too much stopping power on the front wheels.

All in my head? I don't know, but I've never been able to bring the front wheels to a slide before when stopping at a light. I'm using strong, but not insane braking force and only stopping from about 30mph (like you would if the stoplight in front of you changed a short distance away). Any ideas?

Whoever did the work needs to re-check their work. Doesn't sound right at all! You shouldn't be doing any sliding.

How long ago were they changed ?

Brakes need time to break-in.
