Default Cracked rim

I cracked my stock rim on a good sized pothole last week. Curious if anyone else has ever done that, and kinda pissed that the wheel even did it. A little amazed actually.

Theres a guy on here somewhere that actually separated the center lug nut section from the rest of the wheel in an accident. Wasn't posted to long ago.

Ya, I was already thinking that. I was already in the market for some light weight wheels like some RPF1's or similar. Thats why Im not too upset about it. Just crappy timing with the holidays and all.

Well funny thing...what pushed me over to buy new wheels was I had two rear tires that needed to be changed and on my way home from work last month I bent my RF wheel on a pothole. Called Rick up at status auto and he sent me my Volk GTS with tires within 4 days. best purchase I ever made for my car..it looks 100 times better now.

I'd take that up to the dealer and see what they say. Rims should not fail like that. That is a big safety issue. Had it come apart completely, it would have totaled your car and injured the you.

Holy crap, I didn't know the rim could crack like that just from a pothole....unless you ran over a pothole going 80.....that is a major safety issue.

It was a pretty decent sized pothole. It was dark at night, and there was construction on that road. It was actually a part of the street that was dug out and not filled properly.

I know the next thing some might say is to try and get it from the town on insurance company. The town will never pay for it, so Im not going to bother. If I claim it on my insurance, it will be listed as an accident and just raise my insurance.

Also, the rim is still on the car and honestly has been on for a while now. It is not only my daily driver but my means of money. I deliver pizza, and without it I would not have a job. Im looking for a replacement, but would rather save that money toward an entire set of new rims. Im working on it though.
