Default Powercoating Lug Nuts + Wheel locks?

This is a random idea. But had anyone ever powercoat their lug nuts? I just bought some Rays lug nuts in black and I'm interested in powercoating them into emerald green (Project Mu green). I wonder if I can do it myself. Any shop in MD/Northern VA could do it?

I don't think you would want to powdercoat them. Given that powdercoating is a great, durable finish, it does add thickness to the lugs because of the materials used.

If the powdercoat is too thick, you will run into problems getting the lugs on/off the studs because the wrench won't fit.

You would probably want to get them anodized instead. In reality, it's not worth it.

Hmm.. I wonder any shop knows how to get them anodized. Doesn't sound like a very common thing to do.

I don't really mind chipping/get scratched when I torqe them down since I won't do that very often. What I'm more concerned about is weather I can even put the lugs back on without getting the paint chipped. I'll also leave the part that goes "inside" the wheel unpainted so they will still fit well.. I WANT GREEN LUGS!

Because no one sells them in the color that I want! It'd be great if you guys do sell lug nuts in green so I can skip all these trouble.

PM me, I can probably get them anodized for you in a few weeks. I'm not sure about the cost though.

^ So the deal didn't come through since they're not interested in anodizing a single set of lug nuts. Is anyone else interested in doing something like this?

Sorry about that, I forgot because when I do the powdercoating and anodizing through the shop, it's always in quantities.

Good luck!
