Question Help me find some rims on a low budget!!

Well as i posted a while back i drifted into a median and screwed up some of the suspension support rods on the back of my Z.. needless to say I have a warped/bent rim on my passenger rear. I either need 1 stock 17" rear rim which is hard to find used or some new wheels all around. What do you guys think about the Gunmetal Motegi Racing Touge 17x9, my 17 inch Goodyear F1 eagles should fit them.

I am a bit nervous about gunmetal or black rims on a PPW Z as it either looks good or horrible. There only $600 shipped and i can use my current Goodyear F1's which i just purchased 3 months ago.(main reason I need 17's) and I'm broke right now. Do you guys know of a affordable but nice 17 inch rim out there for the Z?

THANKS GUYS

Rota rims are pretty nice, and in 17's shouldnt be all that expensive. I like those montegi wheels, and have considered them myself, just not sure if I could buy a set of montegi wheels.

Usually trying to find wheels at a cheap price, will get you cheap wheels. Your best bet is to keep checking the private classifieds on this forum or on another forum and ebay. Good luck.

MR_X:less than $700 shipped if possible.

Bacalhau16: montegi has a bad rep for cracking etc??? I havent read anything bad about them. I know these are heavy as there for "drifting" supposedly

Yes, they were designed for "drifting" and thats how they are advertised by Montegi. I never mentioned anything about cracking and such. Just not sure if I could ever buy a set of rims for my Z, that I could get off the wall at the Sears autocenter.

Well Motegi = American Racing. It's "ok" if you are just looking for a cheap wheel to put on the car.

Check out these MB Motorsports 17" wheels. They are rebadged A-Techs. Had a set for the track and thought they were great. I had the +27 offset as I heard the +17 would not clear my BBK. Bronze Weapon wheel could look cool on a PPW, and at $140.00 each they would be hard to beat.

Where did you find those rims for that price? That's not bad at all for decent looking rims. I'm looking for 17" rims for auto-x.

Thumbs up

thanks guys i like the SSR's but hate the center cap. I think i might get the weapon R's though wtf is up with spacers? i haven't used them before is it a necessity with weapon R's? Also Im guessing the 17X9 5-114.3 27GM is best for the 350z will stock tires fit this? im sure discount tire can tell me just wondering

You would use spacers if the offset was not ideal for your car. Say if the wheel you were using would not clear your brakes or something like that. If you buy rims in the proper offset and width, spacers are not necessary.

Just buy rims in the same offset as stock and you'll be fine.

Not sure what you mean in regards to the Weapons and spacers. I ran this exact size (+27) without any monifications. The (+17) would probably have looked better and more aggressive but these were my track wheels and I needed them to clear my Stoptechs (heard the +17 would not clear but am not sure). Tire wise I ran 255/40/17 up front and 275/40/17 in the rear, but I was going to go with 275/40/17 all around which is also popular. Going with this tire size will give you more of a fender gap so you'll most definitely will want to lower your car if this setup is primarily for looks. Also ask around if 275 and +17 wheels will fit up front without rubbing if you decide to go this route. Good luck, and happy shopping.

Use a offset calculator to compare your current wheels to the new wheels. With the new dimensions, check the car with a tape. Do you clear the suspension, brakes calipers and fenders? Reference: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
