Default Wheels Painted or Powder Coated

I found a place near by that does wheels painted or powder coated and the guy says the usualy do painted becuase it is just a durable as powder coating. He also says that powder coating chunks off when scraped and painting just scratches. This guy does wheels for ferrari, porsches, and db9's. So with that being said I might get my wheels painted any thoughts before I do so? PRO and CONS on both please...

thanks

Jonathan

My first questions are what wheels are you considering getting done and how much does it cost? Are these OEM wheels?

I hear good and bad from both, good with paint is you get exact match, but a little less durable. Powder coating is harder to fix when scratched but last a very long time. but they have paints the are just a durable now.

I've taken wheels to two different shops and both shops have stated they've had more customers return to fix powdercoated wheels. The clearcoat in painted wheels gives it an added protection. Also depends on the type of paint/brand and different stages of paint. Either or should be pretty durable. I'd stick to good paint like PPG or Dupont.
