So I got in a hurry to get my new tires put on
Just got some new T1-R's yesterday and had the day off so I couldn't wait to go and have them put on. Well I found a place that could get me in quick for a competitive price. However I ended up with all but one of my rims scraped and dinged to hell and if that wasn't enough when I got home, I noticed that one of the rears was put on backwards.

I'm surprised you made it all the way home before realizing one of the rear tires was on backwards.... How the ***K does THAT happen?? As for the rims getting dinged... Pretty common. I'm with the car now when it's being worked on. If they don't like it, I go somewhere else.

always keep an eye on the tech who performs the mounting/balancing.
i've caught one who failed to get a 0/0 reading on the balancing machine and told me it was ok. They had to balance the wheel the next day when i complained about the vibration.

when i take my tires to get mounted i let them know they are high dollar wheels, and go over them with the manager so he knows there are no blemishes on them that way if they get dinged he knows it was caused by them.
Ask for a tire shop recommendation in your regional forum. You need a competent shop that takes pride in their work. One of our regional chains advertises
On the rim and out the door in 30 minutes.
That's just not suitable for a 350Z.

yea i got my rims put on with some toyos maybe about a month ago
i called many shops to see how much it would cost to mount/balance
i went with the cheapest shop which charged me 15/wheel
i was watching them the whole time and the guy doing it was doing it pretty roughly and in the end noticed 2 dents in the wheels and scratches in the inside of the wheel

So what are you going to do about it? Just sit back and relax and have them tell your story all over the shop? Go back and shove each rim up their asses and demand a refund and rim repair....... NOW!
Well i spoke with the owner today and this was before i realized the one rear was going the wrong direction. He asked me what he could do to make it up to me, and I told him to get my wheels back the way they were somehow. He said he would make a few calls and call me tomorrow. So I'm going to look into getting them repaired before he gets back to me, so that I'll be more informed.
Someone I spoke with earlier mentioned that they heard that a tire's belt gets screwed up when driven hard on in the wrong direction. Does anyone know anything about this. I did run the car a little hard after getting the tires put on; partially due to being pissed off and partially out of curiosity of the Toyos' performance.

u mentioned testing their traction, don't be dissapointed if they arent as grippy right away as u hoped. i learned this awhile ago when i got a set of T1R s "Tires are comprised of many layers of rubber, steel and fabric. Due to these different components, your new tires require a "break-in" period to ensure that they deliver their normal ride quality and maximum performance. As tires are cured, a "release lubricant" is applied to prevent them from sticking in their mold. Some of the lubricant stays on the surface of your tires, reducing traction until it is worn away. Five hundred miles of easy acceleration, cornering and braking will allow the mold release lubricant to wear off, allowing the other tire components to begin working together." ~thetirerack
